Seboomook, a magical place

We love Seboomook. Campsites right on the lake with glorious views! That’s hard to find these days. Don’t be put off by the 30 miles of dirt road to get there. The roads have been bad in the past but are now greatly improved. No problem bringing your camper in. Considering the wilderness location, the facilities are great. Water at the sites all the time, electricity during generator hours which are plenty to keep everything charged and you can even have your tanks pumped out. Witney and Norm are so friendly and welcoming. Last year one of us was injured and Norm put the camper into our site. This year we had a problem with our awning, Norm and his assistant spent a couple of hours fixing it and wouldn’t take any payment. Can’t wait for next year!

Peace and quiet like no other!

Seboomook is a truly magical place! We go twice a year for a week each time. The silence is incredible. There is no cell service. WiFi only at the store during generator hours. This is a place to go to disconnect and be with family, friends, nature. It’s a wonderful place. The road in can be rough at times. Real rough at other times. And occasionally smooth sailing.

The rugged, rough road is totally worth it. Bring more than you need and enjoy the peace and quiet. We boondock with a generator on the further away sites. Much quieter.

July and August or later at the best times. No horse and moose flies!

Hard to get to yet beautiful view.

You need to be adventurous for the drive in there is a 33 mile dirt road to get to Seboomook Wilderness campground. You need to take it slow and be patient. Once we arrived we set up and the site was a little to small for us. We couldn't open the outdoor kitchen door the lean to was in the way. The owners Whitney & Norman helped move us the next morning to a bigger site. They were so nice and wanted us to be happy.

We had water & electric yet you only have electric when the generators run that power the campground. It worked out fine for us.

Our new site L49 was big and had a lean to. Waterfront site with our firepit overlooking the lake. We sat in our chairs in the water everyday and relaxed. We floated on rafts the lake was crystal clear and a perfect temp. We attached a beach umbrella to the chairs in the water for shade it was so nice. I made Conch salad and Margaritas what more do you need.

There is a small store at the office yet there isn't anything else around here so bring everything you need. The sites are not level we needed more than usual for leveling. There isn't any shade so come prepared.

We needed propane and they no longer sell propane yet Norman needed some so he drove us to a place about 11 miles up on the Golden road. Great people/owners.

We had Loons with babies that swam by and we love listening to them. The bullfrogs chimed in too. Our neighbors were catching pollywogs, big ones with legs.

There is a boat ramp and a small dock onsite and a playground. There are cabins too which all were rented.

I will say we did have a kid that screamed all day. He yelled at his parents & threw fits. It was like nails on a chalkboard. The people next to us were saying my mom wouldn't have ever put up with that. I told them that's what duct tape is for.

When we left the campground a week after we got there the road had been grated so it was better than when we arrived. Still a long slow ride out yet better.

Wonderful nature experience!

Enjoy excellent fly fishing in the big river, or bring the boat out on the lake with easy boat launch access. Beauty sights to be seen, a wonderful experience overall!

Skip this place

Skip this place... Greed and poor customer service all you will get here. Charged $25 in less than 24hrs to cancel a reservation made 4 months in advance. Contacted several times for help and got nothing. Lots of other great places in the area, just not this one

Love This Place

This is our second time at this campground in as many years (same date range too). This year we took my dad.

If you want to be with a bunch of RVers, you can do that. Lots of sites in a row (right on the waterfront), plenty of space between, but little to no trees in that area. Kids love it and everyone stay in that area was having a great time.. There are, however, some sections of waterfront (and one to waterfront) that are much less active and are, in my opinion, the best sites in the place. We had our kayaks and my dad's boat beached right at our site. Need to dock your boat? They have you covered there too........

Can't ask for a more beautiful area (really, they don't make em nicer). Plenty to do up there too.

Owners are awesome, area is awesome, place is awesome....beware of that road though. Go to you think you should be there already, then go some more. LOL

A peek at heaven!

How to describe what a slice of heaven looks like? The setting is just spectacular, beautiful beyond words! The owners, Whitney and Norman, are just is amazing. They aren't just the owners, but everything they do shows how much they love this very special place and are so aware that they are great stewards of nature's splendor present here.

We went for a 10 day trip in July and a 5 day trip in August, staying on a waterfront / lean to site. Like most of the other waterfront sites, we had a nice, sandy beach on our site. The water is very shallow and the depth increases very slowly. We could walk about 100 feet before the water was chest high. This would be perfect for kids!

The site was massive, huge and my tiny pop up (1990 Coleman Columbia) almost looked funny on the site, like it was lost in all that space! The lean too was bigger!! All of the sites are grassy and flat. The waterfront sites are mostly sunny, but remember that this campground is deep in the north Maine woods and high temperatures are moderate - high 70's, low 80's.

Seriously, I am struggling to find words descriptive enough to capture the beauty of this campground and specifically our camp site!! It is beyond spectacularly beautiful -- the water is crystal clear, the mountains in the distance, the loons, eagles, deer, moose AND THE STARS!!! Wow!! I get goosebumps now just remembering how incredible the night sky looked -- no words come close to describe the majesty of that!!!

Only an hour of internet a day, several hours of electricity and it is wonderful! It was so relaxing to be able to disconnect and we even skipped the one hour of internet a few days. For a more details, check out my review on popupportal.com.

Great camping experince

I rented a cabin at this campground. The cabin was a little dated, but clean and a relaxing environment. They had a small store and the access to Moosehead Lake was excellent. If you like remote camping this a great place to go and explore the area around the campground. The other lakes and streams in the area are amazing and great for canoeing and kayaking as well as fishing. Limited internet, but this is a get away from it all campground.
