Great park but rowdy on weekends
The sites are spacious but we arrived on a Friday and the crawfish boils and drinking had begun. Loud music. Long walk to bathroom Our full review at http://travelswithgg.com/palmetto-island-🏝-state-park/

We arrived at this park on a Thursday . It was fine, although the restrooms were extremely far from our site. They were very clean . We also used their nice laundry facilities. On Friday , the crowds started to arrive. We learned many locals frequent this campground. By evening, the park was full . Groups being a bit rowdy and playing music very loud. We are not prudes but I really don’t want to be 8 sites away and hear blasting music. Over all the week days I think would be a little quieter . Sites we large. Ours had a bit of vegetation to separate us from neighboring sites.
It's has been an amazing experience for Daisy my pup and myself.
Has spaced out sites and 4 backpack tent sites. A few walking trails. Saw alligators, jumping fish, deer, opossums and all kinds if wildlife.
A good camping state park and far away from civilization. Large sites very private.Good equipments. For being over 65, I had a rebate of 45$...! The closest town is Abbeville, a nice little town.
Basic state park camping Bonus is onsite laundry 50/30/20 amp service (you have to flip all the breakers for 20 amp service - strange). A couple good hardened trails. Also a canoe/kayak ‘trail’. Four remote tent camp sites that are far enough from camp sites to enjoy. Sites are on lake lafluer.
In the middle of nowhere so it's quiet. Nice bath, laundry facilities. Sites were gravel. Bugs were awful. Screen porches around restrooms.
Campground is well maintained and plenty of sites are available.
The spot was surrounded by small trees essentially hiding the view of the neighbors. Pretty area with a good hiking trail. Wild pigs hang around, so don’t get close!

Site #65 for three nights.
Well maintained park with clean facilities and laundry. (Bring quarters. Nearby Dollar General dispenses them by the roll)
Sites in the circles at end of campground roads offer the most space and privacy with water and electric.
Bold Wild hogs came into my site and disturbed my dogs. Hogs stood their ground, and did not back down.
Trails for walking and a couple of ponds, one for swimming.
The campground is heavily wooded and the campsites are well spaced. We stayed only night but would definitely consider staying here again
Fantastic nature wise. Drive in is miserable. With fees, it was $30 per night with additional $6 one-off reservation fee. Few sites have septic. Elec and water fine. Had a great 5 mile walk around the park, and that was the paved roads. WiFi sucks. Cell signals in and out - I would not be doing conference calls from here. Don’t think I would come again - expensive for a state park. BTW. Laundry needs quarters, so bring plenty
We stayed in 2016 and it was one of the best and cleanest state park campgrounds we've ever stayed at. Complete with free laundry!
We stayed here this last weekend for the first time and really enjoyed it! There are a couple of kayak/canoe trails that were great! The hiking trails are also great and well maintained. The RV spots are spacious and most of them shaded. I would suggest bug spray since the park is surrounded by water. We would definitely go back here!
It's a decent spot for being nearby to Lafayette. The thing I don't like is the expensive prices for State Parks in Louisiana and the closed gates that don't allow late night entrance. Small man made pond in the back, watched a kid catch a large bass a few years back. The primitive hike in spots are on the back side of the pond so you have to hike in about a mile to rent camp for cheaper than the price of the RV pull up spots. This is a newer state park and it has nice, clean, large facilities with showers and bathrooms. The trail is super short. Overall the park is very small. Fun spot for kayak fishing. Noticed lots of invasive apple snails.
Very secluded, roomy sites with room to roam. Gravel roads good condition. Has a boat landing with fresh water fishing.
Located south of Abbeville, LA, in a swampy region. They honor National Park Pass with half price sites. Water and electric adequate. No sewer. Washers and dryers available. Splash pad. Pavilions for rent. Educational program by rangers. They just upgraded 8 sites with sewage.
Very nice state park and quit
Super quiet, Loved seeing all the wildlife
