Pleasant campground on a small lake
Quiet setting by a pretty lake. Stayed only one night on a road trip. Paducah a nice town, visited the quilt museum. Nice toilets and showers.

This is a convenient and pleasant campground, just off exit 3 on I24 in Paducah. The staff was friendly and walked us to our site and showed us the hookups. He gave us a lovely spot in the shade by the little lake. Have not used the showers yet so can't comment on that. We stayed on a Sunday night. The park was about half full. Seems to be a nice quiet family place.
They are across the street from a Mexican restaurant. There is a liquor store next door. Other businesses nearby.
Noise from the nearby traffic may bother some, but we didn't mind it and it was not loud enough to hear inside our RV.
It is a good place for us to stop on our way from MN to visit friends in FL. Also convenient for visiting the National Quilting Museum. We will stop here again.
Fern Lake was super easy to book and very inexpensive. The host was easy to access and was happy to show us to our site since it was dark when we arrived. We stayed on site 51 which had a fire pit (we brought our own wood) and very pretty view of the lake. The bathhouse was very close to walk to and the showers and bathrooms were fine. Like most small campgrounds, it was pretty outdated but had the basics. One bummer was that the electrical outlets were not functioning in the bathrooms so I had to leave them with a wet head assuming I could dry my hair in the van, but unfortunately the electric pedestal was not compatible with our 30amp plug. Our inverter doesn’t like the heavy power suck of a blow dryer so I was counting on plugging in. :( Being in the 30’s I was looking forward to dry hair. Oh well.
Stopped here for one night as we were headed to MO. The family who owns this are the nicest. They checked to ensure the spot for our tent wasn't too damp as it had been raining and they came out to check us in and showed us where to go. Recommended a Mexican restaurant across the street, but we had already picked up food. Told us we could walk our dogs around the pond. Nice level spot for our tent.
We were able to try our first Buckee's on the way to this campground in Crossville TN! Check it out if you haven't been!
This is a very well kept campground just a short distance from I-26. Gravel sites with water, dump, 30/50 amps. Most sites have shade trees. Friendly staff
Fern Lake has almost two separate campgrounds. One for overnight stops and one for camping. Has bathrooms, laundry and showers. Cute little lake with coats and geese and painted turtles and room for dogs to run off leash.
Owners were very accommodating. Grounds along with facilities were maintained and very clean. Close to I-24 without the interstate noise. Nice place to stop for a couple of days.
I called ahead The owner took me in "after hours" walked me to my site and showed me around. Tent camped there, there was room for me- lots of RVs and lots of space for more RVs. Right off the highway, noise was manageable inside my tent- RVs wouldn't hear any highway noise. The showers were clean and had hot water. Had everything I needed
We stopped here overnight twice because it was close to the highway and had pull-through sites to accommodate our 43’ fifth wheel. We were pleasantly surprised by how nice it was, and you couldn’t even hear the Highway. Our sites both times were in the gravel pull-through area, which seems to be intended for short stays. Even though we were close to the neighbors the sites are angled, so we had a beautiful view of a grassy area with trees out our living room windows. The longer stay sites had gravel and then grass in between the sites, and views of a lake. Very serene, pretty and clean campground.
It was too hot to boon dock so we were very pleased to find this little gem so close to the interstate. The owner was so pleasant to welcome us after office hours and make sure we were all set. The bathroom was super clean and the shower had great pressure and instant hot water.
I was delighted to see how clean the campground and friendly the host was. Convenient to almost any place you need to shop or eat. I would return again and stay longer. Thanks Gary for the great hospitality.
Very nice and accommodating. Right off the highway so easy for alittle over night. Far enough away to not be to loud.
This place is right off the highway close to most things. It’s a cute little place with RV sites and tent sites. The tent sites are located on the lake and have power available. The price was very reasonable and the people here were very friendly and accommodating. The only down fall is the highway noise. Definitely would stay here again given the chance!
This campground is the closest campground you will find to the downtown area while also being close to the Mississippi River. At first glance this location looks like it caters mostly to RV traffic, however upon closer evaluation there is a large tent area which offers sites with both electrical connections or without for a very reasonable $15 or $20.
The campground offers laundry and bathrooms which are well maintained and everyone visiting can take advantage of pretty strong wifi. When visiting this site cell signal with AT&T was fair making for a pretty luxurious feel overall and a great place to stay for the person wanting to get out but not be completely off the grid.
Tent spaces were pretty well spread out and had nice grassy pads. Many had their own picnic tables, while a few seemed to share.
The lake is more of a pond, but you can fish there or just enjoy the views which are pleasant.
Everyone at this campground seemed very friendly and there was a good mixture of different types of travelers in all types and styles of travel.
One of the most notable things about this campground is its proximity to town where you can enjoy so many activities including quilt festivals, the murals of the towns history entitled "Wall to Wall", museums and a variety of outdoor parks with activities throughout the year.
TIPS:
If you are stopping by this location make sure you check with the park to book in advance. This is a popular destination for those coming to the Annual Quilt Festival and books up during this week. Check in advance to make sure you aren't trying to just pass through when this is going on.
There are two areas of this camp, one has smaller spaces which are not ideal for pull outs and one where spaces are much more spread out. If booking in advance give a clear description of your rig to allow them to best suit your needs for accommodations.
Located on the edge of Paducah, Kentucky this is the perfect place to stay if you are going to the quilt shows or visiting the National Quilt Museum. Supplies are just walking distance away and there is a good 24 hour restaurant across the street.
There are shady pull through sites with full hook ups or tent sites. There is a small stocked lake to fish in. The bathrooms are clean, as is the entire well maintained park.
