Spring Mill State Park Campground

We loved the primitive camp site. It was secluded and open. We loved seeing the open night sky and preferred it over the electric sites because they were more covered with canopy. I though it was reasonably priced. If you are here I encourage you to visit the Pioneer Village, go to the Nature Center, learn about Gus Grissom, or eat some home-cooking at the Inn (I suggest corn mill pie.) Caving awaits. Bonus - the bathrooms were less then 5 min away.

Secluded Site 

This state park has a very large camp ground, campers or primative. It's a large park with tons of trails and even several caves. Some caves are guided by boat. Very neat to see. Also has a pioneer village for touring along with a visitor center honoring astronaut Virgil Gus Grissom. Offers good fishing at the lake, electric motors only, but does offer trout. I would recommend this place to anyone passing through, it can get very busy on weekends.

We spent a week at spring mill state park. The site we where at was heavily sloped, the only flat part was where they put the fire pit at. When we looked at the other site most of the shaded sites that had some privacy where also heavily sloped, the best site we found was #9\. The village, twin cave tour, and trail 4 where fun. But we weren't fond of the other trails we where on, they didn't have many view but trees (which would of been better if it wasn't so hot at the time).

More of a RV campground

Love walking thru the pionier village.(esp for Halloween Not a huge fan of the campground. Very unlevel sites roads were narrow.

Has a nice Pioneer village 

The campground is located inside the state park entrance so the gate fee applies to your first entry, but once you check into your site you can come and go as you wish. There is a little camp store with decent prices and lots for the kids to do.

Family friendly with plenty to do!

This campround is kept clean. There is a cave tour also on offer in which you ride thru the cave system in a boat. Yes there are even lifevests for customer to wear! There is even an amazing pioneer village to explore where an original corn mill stands and you can buy freshly ground corm mill!

Amazing!

Inside Spring Mill state park, is a large campground for RVs with electric hookups, youth camp grounds for groups, and a primitive campground with no electricity. I stayed in primitive camping the first weekend in July and I couldn’t have asked for a better spot. Open space, close to facilities and water pump, Ground was mostly flat, slightly shady in the afternoon, and very peaceful.

With the entrance fee and registration tag, we could come and go from the park as we pleased. There are trails to hike and a nature center. The lake has been restored and paddle boats can be rented. The village is a wonderful place to walk around and enjoy, especially when volunteers set up demonstrations.

This Campground offers something for everyone it has a lodge a pool caves to tourThey have a historic village and close to the campground is additional caves to view there is a zoo to see giraffe and elephant’sSo much to do in the area we stayed for a week and could have stayed longer

Something For Everyone

This was our first time camping at Spring Mill State Park, and we really enjoyed the park. There is a lot of family fun to be had there. We unfortunately had poor weather during our stay and had to leave early because of the threat of thunderstorms and tornadoes/damaging winds. Our vintage pop-up is not the best shelter in severe weather! We did however pack a lot of fun into 1 day! They had a Smokey the Bear program for the kids and some really fun activities at the nature center while we were there. We were able to rent a paddle boat for $8/hr and saw tons of turtles! We also went for a hike to see Donaldson cave and the kids absolutely loved it! It was beautiful, and the highlight of the trip. The campgrounds were nice, but some of the sites are close together with little privacy. The restrooms were kept clean, but the showers need updating badly. We will definitely visit Spring Mill again to take a cave tour by boat, and also visit the pioneer village. 

Fun Family Camping!

We absolutely loved our stay here. The staff was all very polite and helpful. We had a nice shady campsite that was pretty secluded. They have a really neat pioneer village to explore that you have to visit while you're there! 

Wonderful place!

Beautiful campsite within a state park. There are trails, caves, and a “village” to be explored. The campsite has water and electric hookups (30a) and primitive sites as well. Sites can range from secluded in the woods to out in the open with full sun. Watch out for walnuts trees in the fall! Within the campsite are flush toilets and showers. Leashed pets are welcome! And on the way out is a dump station 

Beautiful Campsite 

Spring Mill is a favorite spot of mine as a place I have visited since I was a child. I have camped here several times and we usually really enjoy it. Our last site (15) was located on a grade that made setting up camp more difficult than usual, but if you can get a level camp site, I highly recommend it. I usually have 1-2 bars with Verizon. 

Lovely area

I really enjoyed the stay at this park.  Lots of great hiking trails that are well traveled and easy to navigate.  Plenty of signs.  The pioneer village is beautiful and really something to see with staff playing as villagers of the period.  

Lots to see

In January we found a couple of available sites at Spring Mill when trying to plan where we'd go for the eclipse, so we took them and then started looking at what the park had to offer. We started to really look forward to the park as much as the eclipse. The park lived up to expectations. We were able to do a lot of hiking. Our dog was welcome in most areas of the park (pioneer village being the only significant exception). They were planning for a ton of folks to be there for the eclipse, but the numbers were lower than expected. We had the perfect spot for viewing it right across the lane from our campsite, so it didn't really matter how many people came into the park for it. 

  

The only possible negative was that our site wasn't very level for our pop up. We had our leveler with us, so it didn't matter. My wife and I decided that the eclipse was simply the cherry on top of a very good sundae. We loved the park and will likely return again.
