Beautiful
Very peaceful very quiet Very big lots
First time camping here and absolutely love it. Very quiet ( you can setup a hammock and take a nice nap) and kid friendly with a nice playground, kept very clean. Probably one of the nicest sites for a small camper.
Pretty campground. Very private yet close to 75. Right on Lake Alatoona. Lots to do in Cartersville and Acworth. Recommend. Enjoy!!
August 17-28, 2020 Site 21, rate $14 with Sr. Lifetime Pass, electric, and water included. Park has dump station, very clean restrooms that include showers and flush toilets. There is only one small restroom facility (men and women's divided) for 51 sites which is unusual for COE campgrounds. See RV Camping Journal for more details.
Some sites are more private than others, but on the plus side, every site has water hookup. It also seems as though most have access to the lake and the bath houses are pretty clean.
The worst designed campground I have ever seen. Tent sites converted for RV, what a joke. Sites are washed out, because of poor design. Lake side sites are negligently dangerous(no rocks and ga red clay straight down, major erosion). No wild life seen. Bathhouse is covered in mold and not stocked. Only has one dump station. Will NEVER be back to this site.
Decent amount of space between sites. Some of the sites (ours) were at a pretty big slope so we couldn't drive right up onto it but had to park on the road. Bathrooms were decent. There was a grill and fire ring, but no grate on the fire ring. I prefer to cook on the fire than have to bring/buy coal.
We reserved one site, but when we arrived, someone had vomited all over the site and parking area. We went back to the gate and asked to change sites. Normally they wouldn't allow, but they couldn't get someone to clean up the site until much later. The new site cost a little more, but it was worth that difference.
Sites are spacious and well-kept. More music than I prefer, but it eventually stopped.
Bathrooms clean, good pressure. Washer and dryer at bathhouse, too, was a great bonus.
Will stay here again.
Very nice, clean and quiet place. Clean restrooms with showers and sinks. Beautiful beach and forest view. Table, geill and fire ring at every site. Tent sites right on the water. Plenty of shade. Will definitely be back soon!!! Highly recommend!!
I love Mcaskey creek campground, it has a nice beach area at the lake. There is a playground for children. The sights are spread far enough apart that you aren’t on top of your neighbor.
My dad SCUBA dives quite a bit in a quarry nearby, so this is a great site for the family to stay with the camper. We had a site near the bathrooms and playground but there were plenty of trees so it felt like we had privacy. The bathrooms and showers dId the job just fIne! You could walk down to the water from the campsIte, but it wasn’t a super great view. It was nice to have a spot for my tent behind my parents camper. only bad thing about the site was that the picnic table was a bit out of the way. It was nice walking around the campground with the dogs too. Plenty of trees to put up a hammock!
We love the Corps of Engineers campgrounds around Lake Allatoona near Cartersville, GA. We didn't have reservations but it was just an overnight stay so we didn't care. Remember that these campgrounds are staffed by volunteers so getting registered can take a while. This is a pretty little park but doesn't have the majestic views of the lake like some of the other state parks around the lake. The beach area is nice & there were hordes of kids having a ball. also a playground. Lots of boats & fishing. Bathrooms are older but clean. This would not be a destination campground for me but a nice stopover for the night.
