Not Worth It

Partly my own fault. I didn't check the reviews! The road up is steep and has multiple sharp switchback turns. Got to the final turn and it was too tight for my rig and I bottomed out. It took some maneuvering but we managed to get out but it was super stressful. Plus, we found out the spots were full.

Windy top

This was a beautiful secluded site. It could be accessed with 4 wheel. Drive, it overlooks the town of idaho springs in faces.Mostly westbound at the continental divide. It was peaceful and beautiful, but extremely windy. We stayed there may 15, 2025. It snowed during the evening.

SiteIt looks to be only like one spot available. We did not see anybody else except those who lived there in homes, but they were extremely far away

Dispersed campsite

Gorgeous campsite overlooking Idaho springs and multiple mountain ranges. I visited at the end of May ‘24 and the roads were all clear of snow and ice. The road is very rocky and bumpy and requires 4WD.

Great!

For those that can't find it, putting "Hidden Wilderness Rd" in the GPS should help. It's a dirt road at the top of the neighborhood road. You'll want 4wd for sure. Very cold and windy in March as it's so high up. Great view and fun, though! Not crowded, at least when I went.

Could not find, road was hazardous

Wow, I’ve never encountered a road (if you can even call it that) that made me distrust my cars ability. This one was definitely a wrong turn, and lead to housing. Don’t make this mistake! It’s seriously steep, sketchy, slippery, uneven. Past that fork, and past the supposed map marker (as I continued on in search of this unseen campsite) the road became huge bumps that turned my car uncomfortably horizontal. And after all this, I scraped my front bumper (8 in of clearance, not a short car) and just decided to leave.

Vista

Awesome veiw of some high, snowy touched mountains, and the interstate in the valley somehow makes it more ethereal. The noise isn't bad at all, like your next to a heater running all night.

The spots I stayed at are a bit up the road from the pin, in the curve of the road directly beneath the power lines. Another little extension runs very steeply up beneath the lines for the best view.

Road isn't bad. Lots of places around here on the app are way worse. Go slow, like walking speed or less, and any car with moderate suspension should be OK. Walked up the road towards the other pin, and it does get rougher.
