About 45 minutes from Grand Lake entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park. 9 mile dirt road to get to the campground. Nice level sites each with picnic/tent area. Vault toilets were clean. No water fill, dump stations, showers or flush toilets. Hosts said the camp was packed from 4th July until Aug 20th
Got in late, rangers still at booth. Super helpful and nice. Busy campground, however views from some spaces were epic as well as the easy access to the walking trail and all the day use areas. Bathrooms could be cleaner but it was a full campground so lotttttza folks!! Will Def stay again when I’m near estas park. Spaces for tents/vans/ small rv’s-5th wheels. Firewood for sale Until 8pm.
Go here during elk season. Our campsite sat atop a hill overlooking the beautiful meadow where the elk were calling. It was fun to take a short bike or car trip down to watch for hours and then hear the calls while sitting fireside. Restrooms were available closeby and there were plenty of places to ride bikes and relax with downtown Estes a short drive away.
This camp ground offered their loop B open to first come, first serve. There were a ton of spots as we rolled in around 11pm on April 12th. There were vaulted bathrooms and an inexpensive $20 fee to camp. I highly recommend if you need a spot to stay before hiking Rocky Mountain National. There were some elk visitors too!
Wonderful campsite - we go almost every year as a family or with Girl Scouts. It’s great for multigenerational groups and new at camping folks. Also a great spot to see RMNP as well as for elk rutting season.
