Great campground.

Super clean toilets, great camp host, and good campsites. Some are really close together, and the water is down a lot.

Wonderful view

The tent sites closest to the lake are rather close together, but it’s a nice sunset and there is noise from a creek on this site. A neighboring campsite occupant said last year 2025 the water was much closer to the tent pads. If you want to paddle board, it’s currently a .26 mile walk from the site to the lake.
Overall campground gets 4 stars, a loud multi day party with people drinking and doing other substances, playing music late into the night — the campground wasn’t monitored well. These were not outdoorsy people there to enjoy nature, and they took over the whole campground with off leash dogs, leaving empty cans out, drawing two bears very close to my campsite. They also left food out at their party site and bears came and got their cooler and food at 12 am, and they all screamed for nearly an hour because the bear stayed and ate all their food.

Water front campsites are gorgeous

About 45 minutes from Grand Lake entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park. 9 mile dirt road to get to the campground. Nice level sites each with picnic/tent area. Vault toilets were clean. No water fill, dump stations, showers or flush toilets. Hosts said the camp was packed from 4th July until Aug 20th

Large campground with nearby elk

Go here during elk season. Our campsite sat atop a hill overlooking the beautiful meadow where the elk were calling. It was fun to take a short bike or car trip down to watch for hours and then hear the calls while sitting fireside. Restrooms were available closeby and there were plenty of places to ride bikes and relax with downtown Estes a short drive away.

Winter Camping Must

This camp ground offered their loop B open to first come, first serve. There were a ton of spots as we rolled in around 11pm on April 12th. There were vaulted bathrooms and an inexpensive $20 fee to camp. I highly recommend if you need a spot to stay before hiking Rocky Mountain National. There were some elk visitors too!
