Good campground with some bearboxes

Stayed for 4 nights in early Oct 2024. Nice little campground with large bear boxes for food storage. I felt it's at a good location to venture off each day from.

Not too many sites, had leveled tent areas, pit toilets, deer went through the campground adding to the nice views there and a river by it.

The cons were there's no trash disposal there you need to go up the road to the other campground to get rid of it, cars were constantly going by looking for a campsite which was constant noise into the evening and they went really fast making the campground road not feel very safe to walk along, not the flattest of parking spots if using a rooftop tent or car camping without anything to level with

Enjoyed the place.

Convenient and beautiful!

Went on Memorial Day weekend 2022. All spots were filled but we arrived at just the right time to snag one as another group was leaving. Seemed like 10-12 spots on the campground. Most had bear boxes, we actually moved from our original site to a different one closer to the beautiful sounding river to get a bear box. Nice sized camp spots. I was told the bathroom was gross so I didn’t even try going in there after watching a bunch of people open the door and walk out without use… $10 self pay at the entrance. So worth it! Great access to trails around the site and conveniently 10 minutes outside of downtown ouray!

Beautiful scenery

Didn't think was open according to Google maps but totally is. $10 a night, cozy little sites with plenty of space. Great bathrooms , no exactly running water but water towards the entrance next to the river.

Great for the price

Nice campsite just outside of Ouray4. There's a camp at mile 2 and 3 on 361 county road outside of town. $10 a night. Mostly tent sites. Picnic tables and flat boxed areas for the tents. Super clean bathrooms. First come first serve. Van assesible.

Currently closed (as of late 2020) for construction

It looks like most construction is finished (the sites look great: new fire rings w/ grills), newly level standard sites; decent space between sites) but the campground is still closed as of 5/19/21. Up the road, there is Thistledown campground (missing from The Dyrt) with 8 sites.

Angel Creek outside Out at Colorado

Primitive camping right outside outside Ouray Colorado. Imogene pass trail ends at the campground entrance. Trail into campground is a little rough but that's primitive camping. There are vault toilets that seem well maintained. Sites are well spaced. Expect animal visitors. Sound of the river nearby is comforting.

Be Free and Live Wild

June 5, 2020: Trekked into Uncompahgre and planted Taco the Tiger Moth onto a beautiful land of green grass. We only had a few hours to check out our surroundings and the creek nearby, and then the storm rolled in. Thankfully, we had Taco the Tiger Moth to keep us dry, but unfortunately we didn’t have time to experience anymore than the creek and the land around us where we planted ourselves for the day and night. We ended up staying inside most of the night and early morning because of the storm.

I give it 5 stars because of the location, the untouched wilderness, and the peaceful feeling we felt. Be free and wild.

P.S. The morning we left here we ate at a place called Camp-Bells in Ouray, CO..we highly recommend this place because of the awesome staff and delicious food. Num, num...

Campsite is beautiful but there’s a bear problem.

The campsite is beautiful. It’s close to the water and the views of the mountains are great. The sites are much more spread out than the nearby Thistledown site. That being said, we stayed for two night and both nights we were awoken by bears. The first night one tore into a plastic container we have with things like rope, propane, hammers, etc. The second night they were trying to get into the bear proof food lockers. It appears that these bears rely on food found at the campgrounds and it’s a dangerous situation for both the campers and the bears.

Clean and awesome

We stay at Angel creek campsite for 4 nights, it was quiet and clean, turning think I don't like is that there's only two portal patty and they were far from our campsite. Other than that everything was great..

Amazing Mountains...

We stayed here in June... It is close to Ouray but far off the grid, June is the month to go... All of the campsites are right on and or close to the water... LOTS of wildlife and deer....Did I mention the mountain views... Awesome Place and Ouray Hot Springs are close by in Ouray.
