There are basically an unlimited amount of spots which makes it a good option for late arrivals to camp after spending a day in Joshua Tree, however it is riddled with garbage and broken glass. People were shooting guns into the mountain until 12am and resumed as soon as the sun came up at 6am, not the most pleasant alarm clock. The sunset is nice, and it isn’t hard to find a level surface. I had 3 bars of 5G with T-Mobile. Very hot during the day, zero shade.

This location is a large dry lake bed. Broadway is a decent road to enter and exit. There are areas of ruts due to the fact that rain will make it muddy. There is plenty of space but lots of dirt bikes, side-by-sides, and other off-road vehicles that might drive by at full speed 5 feet from your camp.

This is a decent spot for an overnight stay. Not really pleasant location though. Lots of others in this dry lake bed. Also be careful as some areas can be muddy/soft.

This is a wide open area. You can camp wherever you like. The best way to access is off hwy 62 to Sunfair. Turn right on Broadway and continue past the end of the pavement. If it has rained or snowed, stay off the actual dry lake bed. It can get deeply rutted, and if wet, you will sink several inches. The area had great views of the nearby mountains, terrific sunsets, and lots of space. There was campfire areas, but we didn't choose to camp by these due to broken glass. For the most part, the area was clean.

Spent a night here on the way to Joshua tree. It’s close to the park would be a good alternative to staying in the park. Wide open and flat ( like a dry lake bed ) . I found it to be very windy and lots of dust storms, could have used some goggles. Spent all my time in the van. A harsh environment but tons of space. Welcome to mars.

We arrived early in the afternoon around 4:30 pm and found a vast, open place witziges only few, dispersed campers. Access was easy, Solid ground . Only the partly littered areas prevent us from giving 5 stars.

It’s everything you need, flat, free and spacious! There was loads of place for space between campers. The weather had been good so the track was not rough. Would love to come back here again the views are amazing.

Small bits of noise from music, fireworks and ATVs during our stay but that’s part of the experience.

Plenty of sand (but hey it’s the desert). Stayed here for a week and couldn’t have asked for a better spot. The occasional firing squad will come through (even had someone testing grenades) but it’s few and far between. Close enough to JTNP and Walmart. I came right after a rainstorm and it got a little hairy. Not impossible at all but just be sure to check the weather and be prepared.

The road leading there was a little bit bumpy, however the ground of the BLM lands was pretty sturdy and compact. As stated there is nothing but land, however, that is the beauty of this place!

The space is huge and flat. It’s just plain land so there aren’t any places for you to dump anything or get water and no stores around. The view is great and it was peaceful out here.
