## Overview

 White Horse Lake is an extremely popular fishing lake, 19 miles southeast of Williams, in northern Arizona. The lake\'s campground is conveniently located an hour from Grand Canyon National Park\'s south rim and surrounded by the exciting and diverse scenery of Kaibab National Forest. A number of forest attractions are nearby, including scenic overlooks, dams and hiking and mountain biking trails. White Horse also offers a place to enjoy beverages and snacks provided by The Bear Shack. 
## Recreation

 In addition to fishing, the area offers excellent opportunities for hiking, mountain biking and wildlife watching. Anglers seek out Large Mouth Bass, Crappie and Bluegill. 
## Facilities

 White Horse Lake boasts more than 90 single unit campsites with tables, campfire rings, grills and tent pads. There is also a large group site that can accommodate up to 60 visitors, several double sites, tent-only sites and accessible sites. Tents, trailers and motorhomes up to 38 ft. long can be accommodated. There are many amenities offered to campers, including water faucets, a small boat ramp, restrooms, and trash bins.
## Natural Features

 Kaibab National Forest is nestled on the Colorado Plateau, an area of land that was uplifted by geologic processes. Dogtown Lake sits at an elevation of 6,600 feet, and the campground is forested with plenty of open areas. Wildlife such as deer and elk frequent the shoreline. Summer temperatures range from 50 degrees at night to 80-90 degrees during the day. Summer thunderstorms, known as the monsoon, can build up quickly, especially during July and August. Snow is common from December through March.

## Nearby Attractions

 Grand Canyon National Park\'s South Rim is just over one hour north of the campground. The cities of Williams and Flagstaff have amenities such as shops, restaurants and cultural and historic sites. From canyons to prairies, peaks to plateaus, Kaibab National Forest offers layers of opportunity for peace, solitude and discovery. Over 300 miles of trails, some clinging to the rims of the Grand Canyon, allow visitors to step off the beaten path into uncrowded landscapes.

White Horse Lake Campground

What a great little campground nestled in the Williams forest area, about a 20 mile drive from downtown Williams and 15 of those miles are on a well kept dirt road. Super nice camp Host was very helpful.The campsite is very well maintained, a very simple campground surrounding White Horse lake. Clean and well stocked Toilets and water are the basic amenities. We tent camped at what I'm going to say is the best site on the grounds Loop C 58.The campsite had a gravel tent pad, fire ring with grill insert, and a picnic table. The view of the lake was wonderful and we were sourrounded by tall pine trees. A bit of a walk to haul your stuff in, but well worth the extra effort of doing so. We walked around the campground and were impressed on how tiddy it is, and for $25 a night a good deal to be sure. There's some good things to do like 2 hiking trails, fish the lake, you can bring a no motorized boat, paddle broad, or canoe and spend some time on the lake, if you wanna take a drive you are about 1.5 hours away from the Grand Canyon, 20 Mintues from Downtown Williams or Bearizona and 25 mintues from the Deer Farm, all great family fun. While we were their they had an food vendor selling all kinds of food and renting paddle boards, they even sold a few " I FORGOT ITEMS" (toothpaste, ice,bread, etc.) They have a spot till the end of the 2018 summer season, but not sure if they will be back as it all depends on the forestry department. It was nice to have a local vendor close by, instead of tracking into town, and the snowcone were awesome,,,

Feel like your far away with out being so far...

We chose this spot only because the Grand Canyon sites had all been booked for the week we came into Arizona. Bummer at first, until we got here and met Bob our host here at White Horse who was extremely accommodating in letting us choose our campsite and giving plenty of recommendations for nearby trails and the awesome Sycamore Canyon Falls that's very close by and has a drive up option to where you hike in only 1/2 a mile or less to see the falls. It's a good drive in from Williams, AZ which is the closest town from the campgrounds with Flagstaff, AZ being a good hour or so after you make it to the interstate, but well worth it. I'd recommend high clearance vehicles, but others would do just fine in my opinion. It's serene in our little site and there is a decent amount of distance from your closest neighbor. Restrooms are very close to campsites with running well water. Cement tables are my favorite and the short walk to the lake was an added plus. It's late July and it has rained 2 days in a row for us. It's been 65-70 degrees during the day and 50 degrees at night, so definitely bring long sleeves and rain gear! Rain was plentiful from southern Arizona into central Utah. Will definitely be staying here again in the future!

Great place to get away!

American Eagles and Ospreys fling around the lake and a snack shak what more could you ask for in a campground, except showers of course.

Been here a few times and we just love it. The camp hosts are real helpful and the lake is beautiful. Will be visiting again and again. I highly recommend camping here. 

Dump stations are closed for the season. Water is potable out of numerous spigots.

Nice and quiet

Nice quiet area, short drive to Williams, Az &amp; Flagstaff.  Restrooms are available but no showers at the location I was at. The grounds were extremely clean. Fire pits available, two large concrete picnic tables were on the site.  We had 3 cars there and plenty of room at this site. 
I’d stay here again if I could. 

White Horse Lake spot D68

Spent 5 nights in June, 2020. Weather was great. Lake was nice, and the fish were biting !! There were a lot of Elk. Campsite clean, there are vault toilets and potable water. The camp host and his wife kept the restrooms exceptionally clean. The road in is 11 miles of washboard,  dirt roads. There are also several  nice areas on the way to the  lake for boondicking as well

Quite & Clean

White Horse Lake / campground is simply awesome.  The road in can be a little rough at times but is generally ok.  The campgrounds are well laid out, the spacing is pretty good.  The restrooms are always clean.  There can be loud music in the evenings but that goes with the territory of campgrounds.  

  

There is a lot to do here, fishing, kayaking/canoeing, lots and lots of hiking.    You can hike to the edge of Sycamore Canyon by following the trails that lead NW from the lake.  This is an easy hike and would be great for all ages.  Sycamore Falls just NW of the lake is a great hike, one of my favorites.  Especially when the water is running with force.

  

There are generally activities planned by the rangers - all in all a great place to spend a few days.

Diamond amongst the trees

Nice and quiet area. Roads leading to the lake are washboard dirt roads. Easy to get through in any vehicle. Lake is small. No swimming. Kayaking and paddle boarding allowed. Fishing is supposed to be good.  Campsites are set up nice. Some shadier than others. Gets buggy in morning and dusk.
