## Overview

 COMMERCIAL TOUR GROUPS ARE NOT ALLOWED AT TEN-X CAMPGROUND Commercial operators MUST obtain a special use permit to operate on National Forest System lands, including Ten-X Campground. Due to high public demand, Kaibab National Forest will not be issuing any special use permits for Ten-X Camground until further notice. Therefore, no commercial tour groups are allowed at Ten-X Campground. All violators will be removed from the campground immediately and given a fine for violating the Code of Federal Regulations.\_\_ Perhaps the biggest draw to Ten-X Campground in northern Arizona is its proximity to the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park. Located just 4 miles south of the park entrance in beautiful Kaibab National Forest, Ten-X is a quiet, peaceful campground that generally has open camping sites. A nature trail weaves its way through the pine forest, and many more hiking opportunities are within a short drive. The facility can accommodate individual and family visitors, as well as large groups up to 75 people. 
## Recreation

 The campground The campground has a 3 mile loop trail as well as a shorter hikes that allow visitors to observe local flora and fauna. Elsewhere, the nearby town of Tusayan offers horseback riding, helicopter rides and other tours. Many hiking, sightseeing, cultural history and outdoor recreation opportunities lie just a few miles away in Grand Canyon National Park. 
## Facilities

 The campground has 142 single campsites across 5 loops, each accommodating up to eight people maximum. There are also 18 double campsites that can accommodate up to 14 people. 30 of these sites are non-reservable and only available on a first-come, first-served basis. All other sites are reservable. Sites include picnic tables, fire pits and grills, and vehicle parking, with access to nearby pit toilets. There are also two group sites. Group Site A accommodates up to 75 people. Group Site B accommodates up to 50 people. Groups larger than 75 people can reserve both Group Sites A and B. The group sites have picnic shelters, tables and tent pads. Due to limited water supply, there is no water available to fill RV tanks. 
## Natural Features

 Ten-X is situated in a pleasant Ponderosa pine and Gambel oak forest at an elevation of 6,600 ft. The forest is nestled on the Colorado Plateau, an area of land that was uplifted by geologic processes. Summer temperatures range from 50 degrees at night to 80-90 degrees during the day. Summer thunderstorms, known as the monsoon, can build up quickly, especially during July and August. Snow is common from December through March.

Best campground just outside Grand Canyon South Rim

Very nice wooded sites with elk roaming free. Probably one of my favorite sites out there. Definitely would return. Our neighbors were quiet but the coyotes kept us up. Even then it made for a night we would never forget. We went late August and there were many sites available. No one was in the 3 sites around us. Would definitely recommend to the person who wants to get away from the hustle and bustle of the Grand Canyon.

By far the best camp near the Grand Canyon with a lot of wildlife and you are far away from your fellow campers. I hope I will come again!

Will Come Again!

We were so pleased to find this camp on the way to the South Rim (about 15 min from Grand Canyon NP). There was only 3 other campers on the entire site when we arrived in Sept. WE were greeted by a stunning stellar Jay at the sign in station (self pay). Sites were large and clean (we were tent camping) there are rural toilets. Other than that there are no facilities. There are 70 single sites and 2 group camping sites on the property. Beautiful hiking trails with elk and other wildlife all around. GPS Coordinates are 35.93694, -112.12306

A peaceful retreat from the crowds

We came at peak season- and so we were in the overhaul section of the campground. It was a good place to rest our heads and super close to the south rim entrance. We were two steps away from our neighbors who were luckally really awesome and fun people who we actually became friends with and chatted until 4 am over smores and a fire! If you have the right attitude this place is great- but I can see where the crowds would get tiring. 

Crowded 

This is such a great location and very chill campground. It filled up quick but was still pretty quiet when I was there. It's only $10 which is a great price, especially considering how close you are to GC. 

The bathrooms were clean but don't have any kind of solar light so you'll need a light if you need to go in the dark :) make sure to bring your own hand sanitizer. 

The fire pits had cooking grates which is pretty cool if you're traveling light and don't bring your own. 

Just what I hoped for

This campsite is so convenient and very close to the South Rim, while being away from the chaos taking place in the Grand Canyon Village.  After one exhausting day of dealing with a ton of tourists and another day of hiking, it was wonderful to come back to this peaceful retreat.  It has more going for it than meets the eye; although the sites are plain and don't offer much in terms of scenery, the campground is large, which allows campers to be blessed with a good amount of space.  I never felt like I was stacked up against anyone else, and it was incredibly quiet.  If you use a tent, the ground is covered in pine needles, but the ground is very firm, so bring a hammer for your stakes.  The whole campground is filled with trees, which makes each site feel nestled and cozy, and at night the moon is beautiful as it peeks through.  Don't expect much in amenities either; there are only pit toilets, water faucets, and campfire pits, but there is a campground in the Grand Canyon Village that has coin-operated showers.  Though there are a number of reservable sites, quite a few of the single-family tent sites are non-reservable, which is what I did.  Check-in starts at 2pm, so we got there 30-60 minutes early to make sure we could secure a site.  The day we arrived it wasn't really necessary to get there that early, but it wasn't a risk I was willing to take.  There is an Information stand with maps and camping rules at the front of the campground, and you place the cash for your site in an envelope and slip it in the reservation box ($10/night for tent sites).  Campsite hosts were incredibly kind and helpful.  One more thing: not only does the campsite get very, very dark at night, but it gets COLD (so bring layers)!!  This campsite was very nice and affordable, and it was so worth it to not be amongst the tourist chaos within the park.  It is just a quick drive into the Village, and it was great to have this retreat to look forward to after a few busy days exploring the Grand Canyon.

Quiet and close to the South Rim!

This campground is a great place to stay for cheap if you want to camp out near the Grand Canyon. It was only 20ish minutes from the canyon and it was a great place to camp out with a few friends.

Large campsite with lots of shade and space between sites.
Several toilets as well as fire pits and grills at each site.
Best thing is the proximity to the park without the crowds! 

Great & quiet but close to the Grand Canyon!

I highly recommend this campground. Not only were the people working there so nice the grounds themselves were immaculate. The sites were so big with plenty of room to spread out and have some distance from your neighbors. We stayed Memorial weekend and it was still so peaceful minus once incident with a loud radio from the neighbor who turned it down at 10. If you’re in the area this is a must stay. Be prepared for the cold nights though. We happened to stay during a freak cold snap but it still gets pretty chilly especially if you’re tent camping. 
PS make sure you’re staying bear safe as they are clearly in this area. 

So spacious 

Sites 1-13 are FCFS. Rest are in the Reservation System.  Some pull through sites and some just off the edge of the roadway. 
Pit toilets are clean. No hand sanitizers available and did not see any sanitizing going on for cleaning, as well. Tables and fire pits. Potable water, no hookups. Treed sites and shade. 

Good Spot for the South Rim  

Perfect little spot right outside of the Grand Canyon National Park. Picnic tables, fire rings, charcoal grill, and bathrooms. Everything you need right here.

This was a fabulous place to set up camp. We love this spot it's 10m to Grand Canyon National Park a short drive. Nice and clean.

Ten X Campground 

This campground is perfectly situated 5 miles south of the South Rim visitor center. Large open sites in the pines, quiet and peaceful. A great reprieve from the crowds and business of the GrandCanyon

Perfectly Quiet

Great location outside of Grand Canyon National Park. Site 51 on the loop has no clear area of where to park. Campsite is very out in the open next to the camp road. Close to bathrooms. Facility seemed a little dated. 

Good Location, dated campsite

My bf and I loved camping at Ten-X, it was our first “serious” camping trip and overall it was amazing. The campsites have a grill, picnic table and fire pit which was very handy, they’re also pretty spacious and not too close together. The Campgrounds are really close to the Grand Canyon south rim entrance so it was perfect for our trip since we planned on going there. We got to see some elk and the stars at night were breathtaking. Would definitely come back sometime.
