Beautiful Lakeside setting

Gorgeous lakeside sites with nice sloping grass down to water. Very peaceful. Restrooms were clean and well stocked. Reasonably priced under $30 for water and electric site. We stayed at site #30 and thoroughly enjoyed the access to the water, the quiet nook of the site and closeness of the restrooms. Dump station was easy to access and range station folks were super friendly!

Well maintained, flexible, and right on the water

We stayed at tent site 63. Park is very well maintained. Camp hosts were especially accommodating and helped us get a great spot without reservations on Labor day weekend. Our site was right on the waterfront with plenty of firewood available in the surrounding woods. Not all bath houses have showers but they were all well maintained. We would definitely go again!

Fantastic sites!

Great sites a respectable distance apart. Nearly all on the lake. Not many amenities and closed in the fall/winter. Very small playground with basketball court and tennis. A couple nice trails. Overall very pleased and will return.

Pretty and peaceful

Our site was nothing like pictured on the website, so we were unable to set up like we wanted to. The fire ring and picnic table were not near one another so the table was useless to us (it is a cement table permanently mounted and could not be moved). Overall, it's a very nice campground. Going to ride around today to scope out other sites.

Best Campground on West Point Lake

Nice, quiet campground. Great views of the lake from most sites. We have been camping here for years. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT! Just wish the Corps would keep it open all year long.

Best Campground on West Point Lake

Nice, quiet campground. Wonderful lake views from most of the sites. We love camping at Amity. It is currently only open from April to Labor Day. We would love it even more if the Corps of Engineers would keep it open all year long. The Piedmont Plateau Birding Trail goes thru the park which is a great hike. Lots of wildlife to see. We spent 14 days there this summer. It was wonderful.

The Crown Jewel

The campground is developed and maintained by the Corp of Engineers, so everything is well designed and maintained. The lots are hugh. most are on the water. Some sites are so private you’d think you are alone. The park is spread out so that each loop is so far from the others you can’t hear or see them. The roads are in great shape. One could rollerblade on the asphalt. You can swim, fish or boat right from your site. lots of hiking trails. The forest is very diverse, with lots of large oaks, pines, cedars, and more. not a single dead tree anywhere. Even in the loops that are most popular, the lots are 120 feet apart at least. There are pavilions on two of the loops that campers use.

The attendants were helpful and polite. We will bring our bikes next time. We walked several miles each day exploring. We’ve camped at Wind Creek State Park before and in comparison we liked this one better because the lots are much larger and you get more beach area per lot. The showers are typical state park showers, no complaints. The place is very clean, no trash, limbs or clutter. the grass is kept trimmed. There were tennis courts and a basket ball court if one desires. The park is right on the Alabama/Georgia line, in Alabama but on Eastern time, a little weird. There are 30 and 50 amp lots with water but no sewer, but with a dumping station. we noticed most folks had the portable sewer tanks. we value privacy, but if you want to camp in groups there are loops that accomidate that well. We will go back for sure.

We use AT&T and got two bars at our site, which allowed us to stream Netflix with no buffering.

Nature Trail Leads to Marsh

There is a nature trail within the campground that leads to a marsh where there are duck, owl, and bluebird nest boxes. There are two long boardwalks where you can walk over the marsh. There’s a good chance you’ll see turtles and frogs. There are also benches for birding. There is another hiking trail that branches off of this one that leads one mile into the woods. One mile out and one mile back, for a nice two-mile hike.

The majority of the campsites are along the water’s edge. If you take your kayak to explore the sloughs, there’s a very good chance you’ll see great egrets and blue herons.

Great place to stay!

Amity is a ACOE park and is on West Point Lake. Big sites but smaller loops if you are taking an RV. 90+ sites available. Be sure to check out the dam!
