Perfect little campground
We really enjoyed our stay at Deep Creek Campground--lots of trees, polite campers, and signs of moose! If you have time, hike the nearby Crater Lake Trail for a view of an alpine lake.

This is a great spot. Very well shaded and the camp sites are spacious. They weren’t as clean as we would like to see them though. We went through a couple of sites to clean up trash and fire pits. But that aside, it is a beautiful spot. We had six moose, one with a very tiny baby come through our site at night and in the morning and the site next to us to feed in the big meadow. At the time of this writing (6/29/23), there was still snow in a lot of places. The melting snow had a lot of the camp sites pretty wet.
Relaxed and and camped for 5 days. Saw Moose and Elk.toured the Snowy Range sights. Fished a little. Woke up to slight skiffs of snow on 8/20. Road in is good gravel, I had no phone reception “Thank God”. Went to Saratoga Hobo Hot Springs when we got ripe.
We stayed for a night only. Just passing through.First come first served system. It is very beautiful. Best part is it is in BLM, so dispersed is allowed on parts of FS111 so if the campground were full, we would simply scope a spot along FS111. We came in through Arlington - OK cell service most of the way. None in campground. there were several big rigs, the dirt road is adequate and well maintained.
Beautiful hike in the summer or snowshoeing in the winter. Not matter the time of year is the best time to go
Drove into the campground at dark on the night of September 4. Woke up to a frosty alpine meadow, complete with mom and calf moose grazing. A wonderful gamble on a chance evening in the area.
