Within Lake Chelan National Recreation Area, Rainbow Lake Campground provides backcountry camping managed by the National Park Service. This established campground requires permits from the NOCA Wilderness Information Center in Marblemount and prohibits pets entirely.
The campground features individual sites tucked into the forest with views of Rainbow Lake and the surrounding valley. A privy toilet serves campers, though no fire pits are available on-site. Bear canisters are required for food storage. Swimming is possible in Rainbow Lake itself. Mosquitoes can be heavy during August visits, particularly at sites facing the valley. The campground operates on a free-use basis with proper wilderness permits.
