Peaceful and not busy
I stayed at an electric only spot nestled in the trees by the lake. I was the only RV in this section all week and it was so peaceful and private. There is a fire ring, a picnic table and an oversized gravel spot with plenty of trees to hang my hammock from. The sounds of nature serenaded me throughout the week. The bathrooms were clean and dumping and getting water was easy.

Quiet
Friendly staff. It was our first ever destination with a Travel Trailer. Staff helped us way more than they should have. Very knowledgeable. Sites were perfect. Playground and walk path well kept.
Great urban camping
Great campground and park. Plenty to do. Hiking, biking, kayaking, fishing, splash park, etc.
Our only complaint would be no shade at the section we were in.
Campground was super clean and quiet. Bathhouses were very clean.
Entrance was gated. Nice campstore.

Surprising City Campground
Winton Woods Campground was a clean and quiet campground that we were pleasantly surprised to find. The campground fills up fast and there were plenty of shaded electric sites close to the lake. There were also plenty of pull through sites for the big rigs. However if you’re good at backing, there were a good many deeper sites that you could use. Close by is Bass Pro Shops so you could pickup anything you forgot. Only one shower house for the entire campground though.
Christmas Time at Winton Woods
We have stayed at Winton Woods for three Christmases and find it to be a great place. Prices are 1/2 Summer Rates ($32.00) water is off but sewers at site, water at showers to refill tanks. Great walking trails, large wilderness in the city. Drive out of the park and all the perks of a large city.
Amazing campground!
Loving our stay here at Winton Woods! Got a site right near the playground. Spacious sites, shade, a lake, bike paths, boat rentals. You have everything a nature lover could want! Would love to see more full hookups up sites. Upgrade the laundry room/showers. There is no bathhouse in the back where the electric only sites are. WiFi has been surprisingly excellent! 10/10 recommend!
On the calendar
When we booked, no one thought to question if we could swim in the lake.

Horrible booking site
We stayed one night at Winton Woods because it was close to friends we were visiting. We needed to stay on a Monday night and tried all weekend (Sat and Sun before) to book a site online. Both the mobile site and the full website didn’t work. There’s a number listed to call “if you’re having trouble booking online”, but of course the office was closed all weekend and didn’t open until Monday. It states that there are no same day reservations, which gave me a lot of stress all weekend not knowing if we were going to be able to book a site. Luckily on Mon morning they let me book over the phone. The campground was mostly open and when I was asked if I wanted a back in site or a pull through, I told them a back in would be fine (I like to leave the pull through for the bigger RVs that need them). When we arrived, we found that none of the back in sites had been plowed! All of the pull through sites were plowed and there were plenty open. It would have been nice for the gentleman on the phone to tell me that when I was booking. Instead we struggled to get into and out of our site and had to walk very carefully around our RV when hooking up and disconnecting. This is a great place for people that live in the city to escape, but we probably won’t stay again. No privacy between sites. And booking was the worst I’ve had at any campground. It is a very pretty urban park though.
Great stop on our way back to Michigan
We stayed here while traveling back home from the Smoky Mountains. It is a beautiful site but unfortunately we were not able to enjoy it. Great open sites, lots of walking and hiking available, full hook ups. We will definitely be back to enjoy another time.
Tent campers
We are backpackers and this place was a great spot for one night while in transit.
