Hidden gem
Honestly, this is our family’s first RV trip and we were pleasantly surprised at the OBX Campground. Not only were we greater with such a friendly person upon arrival, the view was awesome.
A small group of deer were hanging around our campsite when we drove up and zipped off into the tall sea grass. Once dusk fell and we were set up they came back out to graze.
The lots are level and spacious. We couldn’t have asked for a better first night.
This is a great spot if you are starting at Currituck light house and making your way down the coast for the NC light house tour.
Small, quite, friendly
Campground is well taken care of with wildlife all around. Level parking and full hookups made it a comfortable stay. Small playground and waterfront picnic area for the kids to play. About an hour drive to Cape Hatteras, 20 minutes to Jennette’s pier, and 5-10minutes drive to Wright brothers first flight and grocery store.
Wonderful place to stay
We tried getting closer to the beach and were bummed we couldn't, but it turned out to be amazing! OBX is very close driving to public beach accesses (2 miles), close to so much, around the corner from the Wright Memorial. The sites are very spacious, there are plenty of fishing locations and places to walk pets. Lots of trees and some sites are very shady. We were on an end at the very front, and the trash company did pick ups at midnight which was extremely loud and woke us every time, but nothing the campground can do about that. We have a triple axl and getting in was very easy. Had plenty of room. Will go back. PS... the other Teo places we looked at were Charlie's Family EV Park and Joe & Kays. After seeing those in person, I'm very glad we didn't end up there. That's all
Near Wright Bros but not near beach
If you want a place right on the beach, this isn’t for you. There is an area of water (Kitty Hawk bay) with the dock that you can fish from on the campground. The sites are all trailer/RV - no camping. We stayed at site 5. Important to note- there is a small cemetery on a hill in the center of campground. There is a laundry room near the office. Ice is also available to purchase. I would stay here again. Billies seafood is nearby and would recommend.

Not what I expected
Well, we arrived and didn’t realize how far away from the beach area this was. We only had bikes so we were limited as the road was narrow and not bike friendly. We decided to go further to a KOA and were very happy we did. All the amenities were available and for an extra 50min drive, we were on the beach. We stayed 2 nights and had a blast. There were some very nice sites at OBX but only a few, the one we got was small and not good for our needs.
Great central location!
This was a very nice campground. Small, privately owned. Very spacious lots, especially considering it’s in OBX. The person we spoke to when reserving was very kind and professional. The grounds are flat, many sites are private / back up to preserve type landscape however sites 51-53 are close to a guy across the creek that plays his radio super loud all night and sometimes all day, and is verbally very loud at times, too. We were in site 52, we would definitely return to this campground but would prefer a different spot next time. 52 & 53 currently have a view of a person’s backyard whose property neighbors the campground edge. They were quiet but the guy would drive through 53 to go to the back of his yard when 53 was empty. There’s bushes planted along the property edge so it’ll eventually grow in and be better. Again, great ownership/employees, and great campground, we just didn’t love the sites 52/53 personally. Some may not mind those concerns I shared. This campground is located in a great spot, on Colington Island technically still Kill Devil Hills. We adventured to many local attractions easily from the campground. Highly recommend 4WDing on the beach in Corolla and checking out the lighthouses. Billy’s Seafood is on the way into the campground and has fantastic local seafood!

Natural Surroundings
Perfect spot for natural environment and close to beaches.
Fairly roomy, fully open sites, but no shade
We stayed at site 19 for 7 days. The sites are fairly quiet, fairly nicely spaced, particularly for a private RV park. The sites are FHU with 50A service. There is some occasional road noise, but not too bad. AT&T had 2 bars and 6 MB/s w/o a booster, 2 bars and 8 MB/s with it. The sites are all open, so satellite coverage is good, so as a result, we did not check OTA TV reception. Lots of open area to walk the dog and there were lots of other dogs here. Grounds are kept very clean and mowed. Very conveniently located near the Wright brothers' site.
OBX clean, no frills
Obx Campground is located on Collington Island right behind Kitty Hawk, in the outer banks. It is clean, simple, and convenient to Nags Head, Kitty Hawk and Kill Devil Hills. The roadways are gravel and the sites are back in gravel with a picnic table and full hookups. There are 2 ponds and another place with water access on the property. You will need to drive to public access areas to get to the beach on the other side of town. There is a market on the drive to the camp ground that has fresh seafood and fish that is very good! We bought fish to cook while we were there and also more to take home. The sites are large and there is plenty of room for slide outs and the two vehicles you are permitted to have on site. This is a great place for families and not a place you will find a bunch of party animals. We found OBX Campground convenient for visiting the Kitty Hawk and Kill Devil Hills area.
