Beautiful
There is no water but they are kept clean.
A lot of spots but just enough privacy for your spot.
A beautiful view!
Nice Mountain Stop Outside of Vegas
Good Campground 30-40 mins outside of Vegas. Pretty steep drive up the hill to the campground, but views are great. Hiking trails nearby. Only downside was that pavement was not flat for sleeping in the RV
Awesome and Clean Site
We loved this campsite, super clean and had a lot of privacy and room. We got lucky and snagged one of the last spots when we arrived around 5:30 PM on a Thursday.
5 for camping, 1 for host
Stayed two nights with a few friends and we had two campsites next to each other. Because one of my friends brought a huge tent for just her and her daughter, my wife and I moved our tent off the main section of where you are supposed to place your tent. After we got set up and in the middle of making dinner for everyone, the host comes up and makes us move our tent… we were only a few feet away from the designated tent spot. We had the only two sites in a curve, so no other campsites where around. He sees my obviously pregnant wife by our tent and continues to tell us to move, and didn't even give us time to assist with making dinner. There was a total of 6 of us with 2 kids between 2 campsites. He ended up calling the LVMPD on us for being too loud at 7pm. Metro saw 2 kids and 4 adults and one who was pregnant and sided with us. He saw we weren't being loud and said he would talk to the host. This spot is one of my favorites in Mt. Charleston but the host is not great. Not sure what the issue really was, as hardly any of the sites were occupied. Would not recommend pulling a trailer around this site, there are two extremely tight turns. All tent campers except for one pop up pull trailer that was about 10 feet long.

Beautiful and clean
Our first night we had extremely loud neighbors and were disappointed the camp host did not shut the party down through 2am. That aside, the sites are very clean and level and the views are incredible. Plenty of shade trees to string a hammock. Bring your own water or fill up at lee canyon campsite (20 minutes down the road) for free. High altitude, does get quite chilly at night.
Construction is finished
It’s still not open hopefully in the next month or so but it’s totally remodeled and have epic views. It’s reservable and perfect for large groups or small. They have bathrooms, tables and fire rings.
Here are my star ratings based on my lifestyle and what I like. I'm also a mother, dog mama, and a wife so it's not just me it's my crew and i. 1 star- AUTOMATIC relocate… the property is no longer there, trashed or/and I could never have my children there and I wouldn't ever think about staying no matter what. 2 star- Not really my jam, and would NEVER go to again… It probably more of desert life and not really my style for sure…Being from Vegas I can't stand being in the desert and I love the Trees and the Green more than anything. 3 star- Would stay there again in a pinch, but not really my style, the reason its not is because not enough family things to do, the scenery, or the location… but I would go again and feel safe having my kiddos here but only if I needed to in a pinch. 4 star- a really good rating for sure, maybe needed some improvements, minor things like being on top of each other, not a lot of privacy, but honestly little cosmetic things that aren't anything to sweat and would be back again for sure. 5 star- MY FAVORITE… love the location, safety, the surroundings, big camp spots available to fit toys for my kids to play, hammocks to hang, our big family tent, cases of firewood, our suburban or RV, etcccccc….. I would not only come back but would live if I could!!! Anyway thanks for reading and enjoy every moment like it's your last! CHEERS!

Great way to get out of Las Vegas
Love this campground to escape the Las Vegas heat in the summer. Camp is clean and has many first come first serve as well as reservation sites. Porta potties only, but kept clean. The sites near the front of the campground have a great overlook view.
Beautiful
Wonderful campgrounds, dry bring your own water (thats only reason its not a 5 star review) plus side to that is keeps crowds away!
Beautiful with problems
Bring water and don’t expect to use the bathroom. The bathrooms were locked and they didn’t have water. But it was a wonderful view and a nice adventure.
Amazing Views If You Know Which Sites
This was my first time camping at Hilltop. I reserved online, which is great, so when I got there I just pulled into the spot. The camp host came by and asked for either my ID or the reservation.
I stayed in Spot 1, which is nice if you want to be a little secluded, but I did have a lot of traffic noise when trucks or loud motorcycles came by. The tent area was level and smooth, which was a big help when Tent #1, which set up beautifully in my living room, refused to, in spite of much coaxing and cursing. I had to drive back into town and buy Tent #2, which was watertight even when the rain came pouring down.
There is no running water in the campground. Spigots have been capped, and where there once were showers, there are now portable toilets. In the larger group areas, they (and the trash bins) fill up fast, but less so in the remainder of the campground. Walk a little bit farther and you'll likely find a cleaner portable. This campground is very tent friendly.
If you want truly incredible views, reserve spots 9, 10, 11, 13, 14, 16, 17, 18. 22, or 23. All are on the outside edge overlooking the valley below. There are also deer that graze when the campground is quieter, and nearby access to a lot of hiking areas.

Escape From the Heat
Hilltop Campground is a great spot in the summer and fall to get out of the heat of the Las Vegas valley. The campground has tons of trees for shade and is at altitude, so is usually 20 degrees cooler than the valley itself. Gets full early.
A quick get away from Las Vegas
Easy to get to, expect some lighting & some rain. There's a Target & aWal-Mart 25 min away from the campground. Restrooms but no showers
On top of the hill
Conveniently located outside of Las Vegas, this spot was great for our group to crash after flying into Vegas and heading to the mountains. Friendly camp host, reservable online, cool in the evenings.

Closed Summer 2019 for renovations
Campground has smaller sites, closer together, no water, smaller scrubby pines (limited shade), but it is still a great escape from the Las Vegas heat. Difficult to navigate larger RVs/trailers, but perfect for tents and smaller RVs/trailers. One of the original campgrounds built by the Civil Conservation Corps (CCC). Check www.reserveamerican.com for current updates and alerts (fire restrictions, closures).
