First Weekend
My boyfriend and I stayed here for one night at the beginning of may for our first camping trip together. It was at one of 2 basic tent sites. Ours was just a short walk on a (likely camper-made trail) down to the water. The water seemed clean enough to swim but there was a lot of floating moss and seaweed right along the shore. So we opted to just fish even though we were unsuccessful. There were plenty of trees to hang out hammock, a grill grate over the fire, and a decent amount of shade. There were two flat sites for a tent. We chose one that was slightly more on a slope because it was less rocky. Spotted a few poison ivy plants and 2-3 brown recluses but we’re in their habitat so that is to be expected. Not ideal but not unexpected lol we definitely plan to return!

Great If You Love Watersports
This was our first tent camping trip in Missouri State Parks. Visiting in March meant there weren’t many things to do. This parks main focus is Lake Pomme de Terra, so if you’re not into being on the water - this campground may not be for you. We had a vault toilet near our site which was nice for middle of the night trips. The site was on quite an incline & there were lots of rocks under our tent. I would not recommend this site.

Great variety of sites for lots for different groups.
Really quiet during the week. However, fishing boat traffic increases through the week so the closer to the water you are, the less quiet it gets.
It's a popular fishing lake, but again weekdays are pretty quiet. Some spots have are more intended for trailer camping or you set up your tent on asphalt due to site slope rocks or roots.
Beautiful, peaceful campground!
We stayed in the 300 loop on the waterfront. Access to the water, peaceful cove, it was great. The park staff are nice as well. Great facilities and many sites to choose from.

Quiet State Park
We stayed in the Pittsburgh park because it offers water and electric, the rest of the park is electric only. Large spots available, but somewhat crowded in the electric/water sites in the 100s loop. Beautiful Lake Pomme de Terre right here and accessible from multiple places. Deer Everywhere!!

Good Campground Overall
Love the layout of the whole campground.
Pros:The setup between restrooms and water with the sites are appropriate for accessibility. Good room and nice level areas where we stayed in the 400 loop. Cons: Lots of rocks in the tent areas. Lot of vegetation around making some bugs prominent.

Waterfront Camping!
Pomme de Terre is one of our favorite Missouri campgrounds. Most spots are lakefront on an uncommercialized lake. I fish from a kayak and was never overwhelmed by boats and the fishing is fantastic. Camp spots are clean, has shower house and clean bathrooms. There are two swim beaches and boat ramps, also has a marina to rent boats if you would like.
Pretty but needs help
The camping areas are pretty but there’s no water access from camp sites. Also plan to walk to the bathrooms or plan to hear people walking by all night headed to the bathrooms. Lots of tree coverage so every site is shaded almost entirely, but that means lots of sticks that have to be cleared before tent camping.
Family Camping
We spent the Fourth of July weekend on the 300 Loop on the Pittsburgh side. Despite the humidity and high water levels (not the camps fault) we had a fantastic time. Facilities were maintained family and restrooms/showers were available. The campsites were patrolled at various times and staff were friendly and helpful. The marina was within walking distance and offers food, treats, and camp gear you may have forgot. Right before you get to the camp, there is an Alps store that has everything you’d need and more, including a Hunts Brothers Pizza option for when you accidentally burn dinner and the kids are starving. Overall, a great laidback option for families that are camping novices or otherwise.
Great place
Beautiful sight
Great fishing and great campsites!
This has become our favorite family campground. The sites on the lake are awesome and large. The showers are clean and private. Fishing is great! My kids love it too!
Pittsburgh Loop
Scenic Views overlooking the beautiful lake. Each site in the electric loop has a private path to the waters edge. Sites viewable by map next to water. There were a few bugs but nothing too bad. Amazing trip and we will return for sure. Only on real hiking trail on Pittsburgh loop but it was filled with bluff views and lots of wildlife as well as a public beach.

They have it all!
Everything about this place is amazing! They are very welcoming and have everything for everyone!
chiggers
Not close to water. No actually place for a tent. And we could not use the down dead wood for firewood. I wouldn’t stay again.
Great campground on great lake.
Great lake campground.
Great campground!
W stayed here over the 4th of July holiday, at the Pittsburg campground at the state park. Loop 3 campsite 317. I loved the trail to the lake! The swimming beach was amazing and the bathrooms well-kept.
Our First Popup Adventure
Our first camping adventure in the popup took us to Pomme de Terre State Park on Father’s Day of 2017. Pomme de Terre State Park is one State Park that is two completely separate campgrounds, split in half by Pomme de Terre lake. When booking pay attention to whether you are on the Hermitage side or the Pittsburgh side. Each campground has it’s own camp store, swim beach, boat launch, and sanitary disposal station.
We have camped three separate times at Pomme de Terre with all three campsites being in the 400 loop on the Pittsburgh side. This loop has been chosen due to its proximity to the bathrooms and the playground, these are key when having a 4-year-old. This loop is located in the woods with nice spacing between sites. Each site comes with a fire ring and covered picnic table. I will warn you that some of the sites on the left when you first pull into the loop are on an incline, so bring plenty of leveling pads with you if you have a trailer. If you are wanting to be close to the water this loop is not the one you will want to reserve. I would look more in the 300 loop, though those sites are gravel in case that is an issue for you, or look at the Hermitage side. The bathroom and shower house located at the entrance to loop 400 are some of the nicest that we have experience while staying in a state park. They are clean and well maintained. Located throughout the loops are vault toilets if you choose a site farther away from the main bathroom.
We enjoy the campground and marina on the Pittsburgh side. The marina is stocked with some camp essentials as well as a café for a quick bite. They also have boats, canoes, kayaks, and paddle boards for rent, for a list a prices here is the Marina’s website www.mofunparks.com. This is one of our son’s favorite stops on the trip, they have a nice selection of ice cream. The size of the marina is not large, and if it is busy the inside can be very cramped. We do prefer the swim beach on the Hermitage side it is located along a peninsula with ample room on busy days, as opposed to the Pittsburgh swim beach that is located in a cove without as much space.
When traveling between the two state parks you will travel through Hermitage, Missouri. They have a Dollar General, gas station, and some restaurants. I cannot speak for the restaurants, but we have used the Dollar General for supplies that did not make the trip. Located at the junction of Hwy 64 and Hwy 64B, just outside of the Pittsburgh side of the park, you will find an old building directly across from White’s Marine Center that is selling camp wood. The person that sells the wood will be out there sometimes, but if they are not, there is drop box mounted to one of the poles to leave money in. I was able to purchase a wheelbarrow load for $8.00, which is a much better deal than the small bundle they sell in the park for $5.00.
Pomme de Terre State Park has become a family favorite campground. We will be making a voyage here every year to continue exploring.

Clean and Quiet
We stayed at site 324 which is a Premium Electric Family site. It was Memorial Day weekend. There were two tables, two fire rings, and plenty of shade. There were also plenty of red wasps as they had taken up residence in one of the trees. The bathroom was one site away as was the spigot. Also, we had great cell service. The park rangers are on their game, constantly patrolling. We expected it to be noisy and crowded because of the holiday but it wasn’t at all. We could see through the trees but not easily access it. It’s a short drive down to the beach which is a sandy/rock mix that beautifully exfoliated my feet. The water was perfect and the kids had a great time that made all the work worthwhile. They already talk about going back again next year. “It isn’t the river (Red Bluff-Davisville,MO) but we should come back.”

Good
Good good Campground but could use a little update on certain things
Nice secluded spots
Two parks in one. The Hermitage and The Pittsburgh. We chose the 400 loop of Pittsburgh for its secluded spots. Spaces are not stacked on top of each other. You’re in the woods so take bug spray. Level paved lots to choose from. Fire rings and covered picnic tables. Lots of shade.
Pomme de Terre Gods'country!
Visited Pomme de Terrre campground and loved the area with beautiful water, fishing and boating. Walk to the water to go fishing. Start fire ring for cooking while relaxing at the picnic tables at your campsite. What a layed back and awesome lake area!!!
