Quiet and great views
I came here on a Tuesday and there was only one other person in my campground (valley view). It’s quiet and peaceful, the views of the valley below are great. The bugs are pretty gnarly, and I saw a cute lizard
Totally unexpected treasure!
A group of friends and I ended up at Fremont after finding everywhere else was booked. We'd never heard of it but we had a GREAT time! Campsites are fairly spacious and tree-covered, and each campsite has a decent amount of space between it. Gorgeous views of the mountains, and a trail to hike to the top of the peak was only a 5-10 minute walk from our campground. Good, quiet, family friendly place!

Nice clean little campground
Beautiful views, easy to get to campsites. Fun twisty drive up the mountain. There were about 12 sites with vault toilets and non potable water and trash cans available everywhere. Saw quite a few turkeys. Nice small hike up to the top from the campground. Beautiful sunset and sunrise. Only thing is you are really close to your neighbor.

Nice views
Beautiful views, vault toilets and hiking from the site. Very nice. Breezy but no bees or mosquities, small sites get 2 if u can
Fremont Peak
This is a great little secret in our backyard. Not a very visited Park. The Campground is not amazing but if you are looking for a quick get away this is a good place. Not a lot of hiking but there is at least one really nice trail, great views of the surrounding area.
160 acres on a peak in the Gabilan Mountains
The campground is small but there are 22 individual sites and a group site that can hold up to 50 campers. Good water is available with pit toilet facilities. The peak is where the first American flag was raised in the state of California. There are few trails that take you through mixed madrone/ pine chapparal but the real attraction here is the view. The views driving to the campground are spectacular and a relatively easy scramble to the peak itself provides a 360 degree Vista. On a very clear day you can actually see the Sierra's to the East.
Nice campsites with great views
There are lots of flat sites along the hills here, most with shady areas. The Fremont Peak Observatory is on the mountain above the campsites, and there are good trails for hiking. Water is not available, and fires are not always allowed.
Breathtaking
By far on of my most favorite campsite. Lots of great hiking nearby. Absolutely amazing views.
Fremont Peak State Park
This campground is about 20 minutes from San Juan Bautista but you feel miles away. The camp sites are rustic - no showers available and pit toilets only. The huge draw is the observatory on the premises. Pick your visit to coincide with one of the stargazing or sun programs offered by the observatory volunteers. We were able to look through their massive telescope and see Jupiter. So cool! Hike to the top of the peak for some amazing 360 degree views.
