Coming from Casper this trip was a quick and easy drive for a weekend out of town. We stayed at upper campground and there were a lot of spots that overlooked the river. There’s a good amount of open space in the middle of campground, surrounding the playground. Also, stairs for easy water access down to the river for fishing. We were there in the early spring, but you can tell the trees provide lots of shade for the summer months. Overall we loved our experience and will definitely be going back again!
Wasn’t sure how our fall weekend would turn out since Alcova is known for the summer time fun, but our weekend did not disappoint. We got the best spot on the water since it wasn’t as crowded as it usually is and we were able to explore down by the water since the water level was lower than usual. Fall camping at Alcova will definitely become a yearly thing after our amazing weekend because you still get the beautiful views and sunsets along with the perfect cool weather!
This quiet campground is awesome. I’ve stayed here twice. Good fishing, and lots of wildlife. Moose and deer frequently are seen walking through or near the campground. Close to lots of hiking and biking trails. The only downfall is it’s 3 miles down a bumpy dirt road. Check this spot out if you’re in the area!
Awesome camping on Casper Mountain. 15 minutes to town makes it convenient. The camp sites are always kept up well.
