Beautiful

This was our first time to camp here. What a gem of a place! Nestled among the giant redwoods and right at the center of several hiking trails if that’s your scene. Only $15 a night! Big campsites, vault toilets and fire rings. We spent 3 nights here. Nearby are horses you can rent for guided rides. At the moment the gate to Hidden Falls is closed but you can walk in, which we did and it was beautiful!!! 2.7 miles each way. Only 2 negatives…mosquitoes and the vaults had a fly problem. So next trip there I’m going to research on more ways to keep mosquitoes away and bring a fly fogger for the vault.

Great little campground

Spent a very enjoyable 3 days at Belknap. Our site was between a creek and the river so we listened to water the whole time. So relaxing! Nice trails to explore. Husband caught a nice trout. There’s a decent swimming hole. Vault toilets. A few water spigots scattered throughout the campground. Camp host Dan keeps everything clean and is really nice too. My only negative is that there are no bear boxes. There was a bear in the campground our last night there. So put your food away at night.

Nice time

We half set up at 2 different sites before finding what we feel is one of the better sites…#7. Going up and down the “steps” got a little challenging for us out of shape oldsters but it was a beautiful site right on a creek that runs through the campground. It was also right across from the vault toilet. CalFire came through daily and picked up the trash and put chemicals in the toilets. So the smell wasn’t noticeable until late in the day. There is a pond that is regularly stocked with trout. Hubby didn’t catch any but others were. All in all a nice little campground. First come, first serve.
