Camping & Disc Golf

Nice mix of camping & Disc golf. The course is mowed down and easy to navigate. Picnic tables, fire ring, primitive tent sites available!

Remote & Exciting

This campsite draws an interesting array of patrons that enjoy rafting & boating. The day use area is filled with plates from all over the u.s.. If you travel down the dirt road past the camp * Tread carefully* There is a really neat vintage standing cabin & tree swing near the beach. P.s. watch for the Dirt devils* they bite and cause some itchy skin issues.

Camp Forester* Pampered camping

This is a private campground located on on the shores of Lake Huron. There are primitive sites for tent camping in the rear of the park, most primitive spots are wooded & near neighboring houses. The main park stays busy with rvs & lot's of family oriented folk. There is a camp store with ice cream & popcorn as well as camping needs. The overall feeling of the camp is crammed but one can easily overlook the crowds once enjoying the beach. This campground offers showers, toilets and has a nice old school merry go round in it's park. I usually visit once a summer. Great place to bring kids.

Look for the walk in sites & use the wagon!

Awesome walk in spots lead right to the forested beach. Beautiful Lake Superior is just seconds from camp. Last spot out sits next to countless miles of undeveloped forest. Searching for fun stones on the shore & relaxing by the fire was bliss. Great spot. Hidden gem.

Amazingly Dark Night Sky*

Awesome campground located outside of the bristlecone pine forest visitor center. Plenty of stars and fresh air. Nice campground with gravel road. Getting to this spot was a series of ribbons of roads and somewhat challenging in a 25"rv. Well worth the effort this campground offers great views and plenty of trails to discover old mine equipment and history. Breathtaking views.

Camping spots are very tight & not private

This small parking area is equipped with a machine to handle your camping exchange of $10 a night. This is definately not the place to camp if you want to explore on foot. Limited space of each pull in spot had a patch of grass dividing them. The river runs behind some spots but the overall experience is crammed and uncomfortable.

Awesome & Adventerous

Come prepared with plenty of water and a sense of adventure. Camping here you will see adventurist of all kinds from hikers, rock climbers, rv's/vans & some tent camping. Plenty of fascinating landscape to enjoy any outdoor lovers playground. Visited in Summer of 2016. Nearby town of Lonepine has access to water, showers available @ hostel, restraunts & local bakery.

Gorgeous hiking, waterfalls,camping

Beautiful & breathtaking views. Nice camp host of 10 years + showed us the petroglyphs. Rustic camping. Superb hiking trails well worth the visit. Visited in 2016.

Boondocking near limestone pools

Adventerous hiking can lead to waterfalls, limestone pools and plenty of seclusion. Drive in sites are spaced a really nice distance from one another. Challenging to fit a larger rv.

Great trails & Beach

Take your bicycle or go for a stroll on the plentiful trails throughout this forest. Campsites have grated covers on the fire pits and the sites are fairly wooded. Nice host. Really enjoyed the beach, lizards and paths.

Wild cows & rapid rivers

Very long road to ride up the mountain to camping, like a winding goat trail if driving a larger rv. Beautiful scenery well worth the winding way. Free range cows traverse the area. Great for boondocking.

Sites with close access to the lake

Beautiful scenery and convienent pull up sites. The best spots are near the water and beach entrance (Hemlock loop). Active place with hikers, cyclist & runners. Nice place to escape especially during the weekdays. Popular and busy on the weekend. Access to water for filling jugs nearby. Outhouses need better air ventilation. Nice campground for all types of campers.

Camping along the Black River

Compact Camp with open sites. Nice place to bring a kayak & canoe. Worn in dock area but still accessible. Donation based camping. Quick country get away where the locals are friendly. Cute park but bathrooms need major cleaning/updates.

Detour State Forest Campground * Lake Huron

Nice wooded sites some along the lake. Small Campground /walk up sites/first come basis. Watch for the biting flies but other than that. A lovely escape with an island like feeling. Gorgeous Nature preserve nearby. Great place for paddling! Beautifully forested beaches.

Dispersed camping

Beautiful shoreline of Dunes and forest.

$5 Daily use fee/Parking

Hike about 2 miles from the parking area. The wilderness boundary line is marked. Bring a trash bag to pack out when leaving. Paradise of a place to disperse camp. Go during the offtime or during the week as some weekends bustle with traffic.
