If you're looking for a peaceful state park near the beach, this is NOT IT.
This is a noisy, crowded, smokey RV park with no privacy. It would probably be fun if you were 10 years old, running wild with all the other kids and hanging out on the beach. The other campers are in large noisy groups that arrive after 11:30 pm to noisily set up their RVs or party until midnight. Not our thing!
The beach is nice (no dogs on beach) and bathrooms were fine.
One of the nicest, cleanest private campgrounds I've ever seen. Tent (van / truck) sites are flat, private, quiet, and some have ocean views! Facilities are well-maintained and very clean. Abundant trails wander through forest and Blueberry meadows with ocean views. And there's a back route to walk to ice cream and bbq!
We liked: tent sites on the outskirts, trail / dog-hiking area, proximity to Badlands. Showers and price were ok. To earn 5 stars it needs more seclusion and trees for tent sites. Generally we camp dispersed or in forest campgrounds, avoiding RV parks, so 4 stars is actually pretty good from us for an RV park.
This is an excellent campground for tent (or van/truck) sites and mountain biking. Sites are gorgeous and secluded, a bike trail heads off from camp, there's showers, a sauna, and a lake. Wonderful vibe, not an RV park (although there are 3 or 4 RV sites), more similar to a national forest campground. One of the best private parks we've stayed at.
