Picturesque Views 11k feet up
After 8 miles of wildflowers, moose and uphill climbing it was wonderful to find a few campsites open despite peak season in July. At 11k feet it gets chilly at night, but the views of the milky way and the hot springs made this one of my favorite places to pitch my tent.
Despite height of the season, beautiful, private site
Was directed to Cosby by a NPS Ranger as an overlooked, beautiful campground. Arrived close to dark and had our pick of gorgeous, wooded sites- even on a weekend in July.
Beautiful and accommodating despite eclipse crowds
A few miles down a dirt road this is a beautiful campsite with great volunteer hosts. Stayed during the eclipse so crowds were intense but the hosts lets us camp where we could find room, the site was clean and the pond was beautiful (as always bring the bug spray when camping near the water).
