I enjoy traveling and do so quite frequently. I have visited every state park in Minnesota multiple times and feel like I notice something new with each visit. Utah and Washington are 2 of my favorite places I have traveled to.

Nice and open, fairly level

Open spot with plenty of room and nice bridge view. Shared with truckers who leave their engine running all night, so not for light sleepers. Road noise was minimal overnight. No bathroom. No water. Felt safe.

Stayed with family and friends

Some family friends have a seasonal spot here so we stayed a couple times to spend time with them. They recently added onto the campground, mostly seasonal sites. Fire pits are provided for each site and they are cleaned out between guests. There was a large open field are near the pool so we set up a little disc golfing course! Sites are large and clear of trees and big rig friendly (camped in a roughly 30ft 5th wheel). Picnic table provided at each site. Bathrooms were clean and the pool area was nice to visit on a hot day! can get a little crowded during busy weekend! The road through the campground is dirt and usually smooth.

Lakefront

Lakefront sites are available. Picnic table and fire ring provided at each site. In town campground so it can be a little noisy at times. There is a boat launch right next to the campground. A fish cleaning house is provided at the campground. Bathrooms are also located within the campground. There is a public beach, skate park, splash pad, and bike trail all located within walking distance of the campground. Site are easy to back into and decent sized.

Nice state park

Stayed here for a couple nights on a mini state park road trip. Nice place, like most of the MN state parks. Spotty cell service. Hiked a trail with lots of steps. Fire ring and picnic table are provided at each site. Restroom with showers also available in campground. Site was large and easy to back into and offered some tree cover for shade during certain times of the day. Was unable to hang hammock in specific site we stayed at, but some of the sites looked like they would be suitable.

Saw a deer

Saw a deer walking through camp. Nearby brewery was a nice treat! Sites we stayed at were pull through sites with full hook ups. A picnic table and fire pit is provided at each campsite and we were able to stay next to friends we were traveling with (specified we would like neighboring sites when we made the reservations). Nice amount of tree cover at our sites. The road into the campground was nice and smooth. There is also a small playground, bathrooms, and sanitary dump site in the campground.

First to Review
Ski/snowshoe in cabin

Stayed at the new ski/snowshoe in cabin. Cute little cabin with everything you need plus whatever you can carry on your back/sled. Cabin is equipped with firewood and a wood burning stove. There is a little outhouse right outside of the cabin. The main lodge is where you park your car, and there is a hot tub available to reserve if you are staying in one of the main cabins or the showshoe in cabin. The snowshoe in trail is a little hilly, so be prepared to do some work getting in, especially if you are pulling a gear sled like we did! Required a little teamwork to avoid being run downhill by the sled. We slept three people in the cabin, one on each bunk and one on the floor. Recommend putting the person who gets hot easily on the floor and the one who gets cold easily up on the top bunk. I get hot easily and was up top and had to cuddle with my water bladder to keep cool overnight.

Camp among the trees

Lots of tall evergreen trees here that you are nestled in. Have to know a seasonal site holder to camp here. Sites can be a little tricky backing into because of the trees, but ultimately they have enough space even for large rigs (there were three of us there: 2 5th wheels and one longer travel trailer). A picnic table and fire ring was provided at each site. Nice easy road to navigate getting into the campground. Close to Hinckley if you're looking for things to do!

Group sites

Stayed here with a large group of family and had a site big enough for all of our rigs. We brought our own firepits due to the size of the site we had. I cannot remember if any are provided. There were some walking paths right behind our site, which was great for those of us with dogs! There is a playground, pool, volleyball area, basketball court, and shower/bath house. The owners are onsite and very friendly people. Road through the campground is dirt.

Munising area is great

Love the Munising area. Lots of waterfalls and close to pictured rocks. Nice facilities and great location. Fire ring is provided at each campsite and was clean of debris. Sites were large and easy to back into; big rig friendly! wood is available for purchase.

Close to the Lake

Offers some sites close to the lakeshore and others a little farther back. Nice facilities and location. Picnic table provided at each site. Our site and most of the others had nice tree cover for shade. We had some great views of the mighty mack bridge and even saw the northern lights one night! The road into camp is nice and smooth! great location to stay it if you are planning to head over to Mackinac island!

Nice spot

Went here on a road trip with my parents in their camper. Nice spot! Picnic table and nice sturdy fire pit is provided at each site. wood is available for purchase at the office. Site had a paved pad with gravel surrounding. Bathroom facility was clean.

Favorite site

This park has one of my favorite sites. The site for your tent is up a short walkway from where you park your car. My dog loves the bison drive! Firepit and picnic table provided. wood is available for purchase at the office. Shower and bathroom facility was clean and close to this campsite. Be sure to visit the waterfall in the other section of the park nearby! Will be returning this summer! Please note, raccoons are in the area, so please be kind to mother nature and keep your food and trash secure!!

Fall camping

Stayed here in the fall. Had a site right next to the bathroom big enough for 2 tents and 2 vehicles. Hikes here offer great views of the river and bluffs and the fall colors are gorgeous!!! site came with a fire pit with grate and a picnic table. I did not use the grate for cooking as I camp with a blackstone as grates tend to be dirty. When I do use the fire for cooking, I always use a cast iron pan rather than cooking directly on the grate. pictures are from before my friend arrived with their vehicle and tent. They parked directly in front of my car and put their tent near the parking barricade close to the bathroom. My dog enjoyed all the room he had at this site!

Lake views

Had a spot in the lower campground right by the Lake. Showers are in the upper campground. Tent pad was great for a small tent, not sure if anything larger would fit here. Picnic table and fire ring with grate provided. The mosquitos were pretty bad when I was here in June, so be prepared with insect repellant. There is an outhouse in the lower campground. Firewood available for purcahse at the office in the upper campground; short drive or trail walk away.

Views, water access

Great views here! Stayed right next to the lake! Had easy access for kayaking and had a fun girls weekend! Site 7 was a short hike in from the parking lot and the site was large enough for multiple tents. We had a 3p and 2p backpacking tent. Picnic table and fire ring provided at the site. There is a self pay station and the rates were pretty cheap! we enjoyed a rainy weekend and were even able to rig up an awning with some dead branches in our site and extra rope we brought to help us keep dry. Great location for water access. we had an inflatable kayak, traditional kayak, and inflatable paddleboard between the three of us!

Views

Great views of the mighty mackinaw bridge! Nice grass sites close to the water for tents! Be warned, if there is inclement weather, it will seem like you are in a hurricane due to the proximity to the water. The park was easy to find! the bathroom and shower facilities were nice and clean! Highly recommend this park for the views alone! Great basecamp if you are heading to the island! Grocery store nearby for any last minute needs you may have!

Scenic

A little close to a busy road, but if you have a creek spot you can hear the water flowing! Trails nearby and showerless bathrooms in the campground. We showered at a nearby KOA for about $7 per shower.

KOAs are a go to on the road

KOAs tend to be a go to chain for me. They usually offer similar amenities between locations and good prices. I should probably consider becoming a member. This KOA was great. They had spotlights at each tent pad that you could turn on and adjust where they point. This made my nighttime arrival set up experience so much smoother. I'm pretty skilled at night time set up at this point, but having light always makes things move faster when you're solo. Each tent site also had a water spicket and 1 or 3 tables. The tent sites are huge and can fit any tent I've ever seen. Close to white sands national park. They also offer sleds you can borrow for free and wax for a $1 deposit. I highly recommend going there and sledding. Be aware of the weather/season because the sand will be hot during the day in the summer months

Under-rated national park!

Guadalupe mountains is such an under-rated national park! Most of the hiking here is pretty intense as most of this park is in the backcountry…definitely a backpackers and hikers paradise. Be sure to do you research on wildlife in the area if you aren't from around here. Also, the campground has skunks that walk around, make sure you zip your tent so that the door zipper is at the top of your tent because they have been know to open doors and crawl into bed with people. Site was a short walk away from my parked car

Beautiful and secluded backpacking spot

Tough hike in to the backpack site. But once we arrived we had a beautiful little lake all to ourselves. Didn't pass another person in the 1.5 mile hike in. Quiet, secluded, and relaxing. Site had some log benches and a table if I remember correctly as well as a bear box.
