This is a pretty unique location with a beach across the street, inter coastal water way on the backside and a historic city a stones throw away. Our site was #25, a back in, full hook up, with picnic table and level, surrounded by vegetation which made it somewhat private. The site was pretty narrow but sufficient. The campground roads and sites are sand. The downside was the main bathroom, which was very old and rundown, plan on using your own facilities.
This park was close to home and was good for a quick trip. The roads can be a bit narrow depending on the size of your rig and some back in spot may be a challenge. This would be a good park to visit in the cooler months. Make sure you have plenty of mosquito repellent options, they don’t normally bother me too much, but I had welts after the 15 mins it took me to unhitch and set up. Overall, the park has some nice trails, with good wildlife viewing.
Campground is great for a stopover trip, I would not stay longer that a a day or two. There are no showers and the bathroom access is only during the hours of the restaurant on-site. Good news, they provide full hookup. The sites are pretty level, with a gravel base and no picnic table. The property is pretty cool, and down by the lake is why I love Florida. A bit of warning, if you don’t like the sound of a finely tuned airboat, you might want to stay away (I happened to love the sound).
Had a great time at site 16. Went to the see the river sink then rode our bike on the green and orange trails to river rise. Did a canoe trip on the nearby Ichetucknee river, not very busy this time of year. The campground was a bit tight for backing in, but manageable. Bathrooms were cleaned daily and not too shabby. Make sure to bring tick spray.
We don’t live too far so the things to do have already been done, but for a new camper shakedown trip, it’s perfect. Would also be good for families with small children (we are empty nest). Bathrooms are clean and updated, CG is pretty well maintained. We stayed in the back 40, no trees and it was pretty windy. Sites are crushed shell and our site was pretty level.
Currently sitting on site 19, great lot with some privacy. Park is clean, great staff, and clean facilities. A nice paved trail across the road, road about 25 miles today!
Very nice campground with full hookups. Bathroom was very clean and the grounds were well maintained. The springs were closed due to the rising river from hurricane Ian, but we made due with visiting nearby Palatka and Ravine Gardens State Park.
