Campground had some restrictions in July 2020 due to COVID-19. Pool was open but restricted to 10 or less at a time. Playgrounds were closed. Camp store has essentials (wood, ice, etc.). Adjacent to campground the owner's have an inner tube rental excursion (Dan River Adventures); separate from campground. The electrical and water service was well maintained and functional. The camp owners will swap out a socket if your outlets need something changed; best to give them a day to two advance notice. Most sites have shade but not all. Bugs and mosquitoes were not that bad despite being close to river. Very rural area of North Carolina with limited services. Family friendly camp atmosphere.
The tent sites are fairly level. Tent sites with water and electricity are well maintained and work as advertised. There is little shade in the campground which can make tents hot during the day. Campground services are good. Bathrooms were generally clean and functioning. The two pools are a nice feature in the summer heat. Laundry area is open 24/7. There are two dog run areas. Camp store has essentials as well as extras. They also have excursion packages for sale to local sites. Staff are friendly and responsive to any issues.
Quemahoning Family Recreation Area offers great fishing, some nice trails and generally wonderful weather during the summer season. The campground offers some sites with electrical and others with varying primitive services. The campground has a bathroom with showers (2 for men, 2 for women). The result is there are sometimes lines waiting for a shower to be available. There is a camp store where wood, ice and fishing supplies are available. There is no trash service; campers are expected to carry out their trash. Campsites do have fire rings, a picnic table and parking available. The campgrounds are pet friendly. Boats are available to rent. If you bring your own power needs to be electric only.
The staff was very helpful making sure the site we reserved would hold our large tent. Bathrooms were well maintained, clean and offered plenty of hot water. Campground store offered basics and a few extras. The check in materials provide a good list of local resources (emergency care, pharmacies, etc.).
Good range of extras for kids - playground, bounce pillow, rec area with games, basketball area, game field and some extra events such as animals for petting one night. The campground is pet friendly.
