We got a permit and camped here. Coldest night ive camped in a long time. The lake froze over but it was beautiful
We camped in the upper loop in February. Came in around 3pm, found a spot, paid $16 bucks at the kiosk. No showers but there is a pool and shower at the hotel by the visitors center that you can use for $10 bucks.
Its a ways from the main road but a beautiful drive. Basic sites, tables and fire pits. Its also free. Pit toilets and pretty dang cold in February, but a great spot to camp if your going to hike wild rose or telescope
Me and the ol lady spent the night there this week in late July. Saw a beautiful thunder storm roll threw a few miles from us. Amazing sunset, we climbed up the rocks to get a good view and it was breathtaking. Not very crowded and close to bakers dam hike. Good hike, cool petroglyphs and a really mellow walk. Saw a bunch of critters and an owl flew right by our campfire.
