Relaxing and Family Friendly

It is great to have so many great beautiful state parks in my back yard to be able to go camping we we get the itching. Harrison Bay State Park is a wonderful relaxing getaway for us. Just a short 45 minute drive and we are in heaven. It is one of the smaller campgrounds we use and that is why we like it so much, makes it more peaceful. There is a complete marina and welcomes all water crafts from fishing boats, pontoons, jet skis, to your kayaks. What ever you enjoy on the water you will be able to use at Harrison Bay. Now if you do not have a water craft just pulling out your fishing poles and casting through out the entire park will guarantee you a catch. Now if water sports are not for you that have an amazing 4.5 mile loop bike trail that will give you a workout if you want one, Or if biking is not for you just put on your tennis shoes and take a nice stroll and enjoy the beautiful scenery around you. Another of the great features at the park is The Bear Trace Golf Course, a Jack Nicklaus designed course. Now golf is not for me but talking to others that golf, apparently this coarse is loved because it surrounded by water and heavily-wooded land around the coarse. And finally one of the best amenities for our kids is the Olympic size swimming pool. After the kids have enjoyed fishing and biking they spend the rest of the day playing & splashing in the huge pool. We really enjoy the pool because a lot of campgrounds do not offer a pool & we take full advantage of it. All in all I have to say for the price, the amenities, and the wooded camp sites Harrison Bay State Park is one of our favorite places to camp. I think anyone would enjoy a relaxing time during your stay..

Relaxing Camping & Beautiful Hikes

Fall Creek Falls State Park has so much to offer while you are camping. There are so many activities during all seasons. Now we have only camped in the cooler months but if you do camp in the summer that have a huge pool to enjoy during your visit. They just completed a major remodel on the pool and it is amazing. I hope one summer we will get to enjoy it. But if you are not able to use the pool dont worry because you will have a full schedule while there. From hiking the many trails & exploring the beautiful waterfall, to visiting the nature center for a show, riding bikes on the trails, to completing the zipline coarse they have. I tell you there is so much to so it is crazy. We enjoy hiking to the waterfall every time we visit & just take in the beauty of all the nature around. If I recall correctly there are 4 different camping areas, anything from tents, to pop ups to large fifth wheels & motor homes. There is a spot for anyway you enjoy camping for your stay. The camp sites are clean and well maintained. There are plenty of restrooms around to accommodate all the campers. We have never had any issues with having to wait for the showers or restrooms. And with kids, esp. smaller ones, that is a big deal for families. What I did like at a couple of the camping areas was the wide open grass area for the kids to run & play if they get bored sitting around the camp site. They can play a game of kick ball or just go pass some ball. It is a good place for the kids to hang out while we were getting dinner ready in the evenings. We have really enjoyed every visit to Fall Creek Falls and can not wait until our next visit to the park. There is so much for us to do while there we need a vacation after visiting.. Hope you enjoy your visit as much as we have,,

Beautiful & Peaceful Getaway

Chester Frost Park was the first campgrounds we visited when we started camping and it was the perfect spot to start. Being right on the lake was amazing. From when we first started camping there Chester Frost has completed a major update from the campsite to remodeling some of the bathroom facilities. They have spent a lot to improve an already great place to visit. One tip, if you have never camped there before, you ,must get there before the guard station opens because the line starts to form early. You can not make reservations for the camping sites, it's 1st come. I do like this because some campgrounds are hard to get in because some campers are able to able to reservation all the prime dates before others. So its nice to have a place we know we can get a spot if we want to camp for the weekend. There are 3 different sections to the campgrounds. The first area just left of the guard station is for tents & small campers, the area to the right is for large fifth wheels & motor homes, and finally the third section is across the lake & it accommodates small to mid size campers. Now tents are also allowed in this area too. There is so much to explore at Chester Frost its hard to get it in in just a weekend. We love to ride our bikes around explore different areas of the park. Not only is it a campground they also have shelters you can rent for parties or family gatherings. Love also enjoy fishing while we are there. There are almost too many areas to choose from to cast your line, its hard to pick but we always catch a good amount of fish. The waters are pretty calm and there are several docks located around the camp sites that you can bring your boat or water craft for your stay. There always seem to be a lot of kayaks out there. If you are in the area and looking for a beautiful place to camp for the weekend, I would Chester Frost Park a try. The prices are great and every site has water and electricity. We have always had a great time during out time there!!

Wonderful Family Friendly Campgrounds

This was the first really vacation camping trip our family took and it was work but it was one of the best vacations we have every had. We were very new to camping on vacation so it was quite the learning experience. And Fort Pickens, FL was a great place for our 1st outing. The campgrounds were very clean and well kept. Our camping spot was very roomy, enough for 1 large tent, a small tent, 2 canopies, and we still had room to walk around. You did have a large concrete slab for your car or either your camper. Now one thing we wish we had had at our site was some trees for shade, because in July in Florida it gets HOT. But we did not have the shade so we just kept under the canopies with the fans blowing. One thing we sis love about our site was we were right across from the bathrooms, Loop D site D22, and that was very convenient, esp in the morning when everyone was rushing for showers & getting ready for the day. Now the showers were on the older side, but they worked.
There was a store at the campgrounds for your basic needs if you ran out of anything, ice bread, sunscreen, etc. But I would recommend making sure to stock up because the prices are higher at the store. But its great to know its there if you need it. Outside the store that had laundry facilities, 4 washers and 4 dryers. I believe it was about $2 per machine, so make like i did to just wash once for the week. I waited until Wednesday & it got us thru the rest of our vacation. One tip, get to the washers very early or you will not get them til late that evening. I got up at 5:30 a.m. to get my washing started. Soon after I got there people started filing in. What we really loved about Fort Pickens was the beach was just minutes away. You could ride your bike, walk or even drive to the areas you wanted to visit for the day. The beach and water was just beautiful. The water was crystal clear and very calm. Now a couple of days the water temp got a lil too warm but it was cooling than being in the sun on the beach. Another location we enjoyed visiting was the bay side just behind our campsite. We walked down a trail and had easy access to the bay, where the water was just as clear & everyone took their kayaks out. It was even calmer water than the ocean so it was a lot easier to paddle in this water. There is so much to do in this area that it make the perfect vacation spot for just about everyone. You can explore the Fort at Fort Pickens, or stroll to the lighthouses, or visit the Pensacola Naval Air Station and Naval Aviation Museum. You also have a wide selections of restaurants and shopping to enjoy. A great family friendly campground!!

Peaceful, Beautiful, and Amazing

We are fairly new to camping and could not wait to camp outside of TN and Fort De Soto State Park in FL was that perfect place. The campgrounds are on an inlet just outside of St. Pete Beach. The campgrounds are like no other I have seen before, it's almost like a jungle feel. Each camp area is surrounded with trees that almost hang over & hug you. That enclose you where you are shaded and have privacy from your neighbors. Besides the camping we were able to take our kayaks out each day and have a relaxing kayak trip or take our fishing poles & try and catch dinner for that night. If you do not have your own kayak you can rent one and even fishing equipment. Something else we loved was the bike path throughout the campgrounds, so we could explore without having to drive the car. Now we did have to drive a very short distance to the beach, less than 5 miles. But that was ok, esp when we saw that beautiful emerald green water. The beach was beautiful and very relaxing, extremely family friendly. Last but not least is the big fishing pier when you enter the park but also the Fort De Soto musuem. This trip to Fort De Soto had to be one of the best camping trips we have had and can not wait to go back.
