We stayed here simply to visit KSC and you cannot beat the location, it's just across the bridge. We stayed in the tent area, and while there was no privacy between spots, it was right on the water. The views were half nice - one half the lagoon and one half dog park. There was a great little dock out on the water but the ground was very wet and mushy. Toilets were fine but no fire rings provided.
First of all, this was a great location to visit the lion country safari. We stayed in a tent site.
Pros: The facilities were well kept and nice enough for a campground. People were not too noisy. The lions were plenty noisy, and it was so cool to hear them in the morning!
Cons: There was no privacy whatsoever between sites and the sites were very close together. The lampposts were plentiful and bright which isn't so great when sleeping in a tent. Also, no fire rings.
This spot was pretty nice. It was clean, and large. There was quite a lot of noise from the road, although it wasn't something we could see through the trees. A short hike up the mountain led to a nice big lake at the foot of some mountains for swimming. Close to lots of sights. A fine place.
I hesitate to write this review with the fear that too many people will find this wonderful little spot. Right on the lake, each spot had some privacy with thick enough brush between sites. Beware of poison ivy very near to the sites. The lake was nice and warm and great for swimming. Hosts were friendly and the bathrooms clean. Would definitely come again, and stay longer!
Cheaha was such a pleasant surprise. More like a resort, this park had tent camping, RV camping, a pool, a lake, cabins, a playground, and a restaurant with a view. We had a little trouble with the upper tent sites not being level because we have a roof top tent, but we were able to switch our site to one that was more level without much hassle. The views were just amazing, and it was lovely to have access to a pool.
This park is beautiful and completely unexpected given its surroundings. Definitely something unique and worth seeing. The camping is rather rustic, and as another user noted, the road to pioneer 1 and 2 and not well maintained. The road to pioneer 3 looked like it might be easier for a smaller car, but we didn't drive there. This is one of the more expensive campsites I have booked, but it was well worth it!
From what we were able to see the views are amazing, unfortunately it rained for most of the time we were here so I can’t give it five stars (yet) because I don’t feel I was able to experience the area. Our site was rather private. The restrooms were rather rustic, but clean - and there is no electricity (but there is cell service and hot showers).
This place is not for you if you are looking for solitude or silence. It might be your scene if you’re into parties. Tent sites were not all accessible by drive up - some you had to park at the top of the hill and walk down. Bathrooms were clean though, and the staff was friendly. Can’t beat the proximity to the falls either.
We had a great time here, there is something for everyone! Nature walks, fishing, a playground, an old civil war mound fort! The deer didn’t seem to be that afraid of people anymore and they came straight through our campground. Toilets/showers were clean and staff was friendly and informative.
We quite enjoyed our stay here simply because of the location. Our spot was facing the St. John’s. The kids loved seeing the big ships coming and going. They also loved climbing on the rocks of the sea wall, and playing at the beach, of course. Toilets were clean. Downsides were no privacy from the neighbors whatsoever, and no shade from the sun.
