Second visit

Nice tall Oleander shrubs provide shade and privacy between sites. Generous sized pull through sites. This time we stayed in the back row (in front of the full timers) and it was so quiet. Previously we stayed near the office and could hear some road noise from I-40; much quieter in the back. Each site has a concrete patio. Grateful for Hook-ups as it has been over 100 degrees each time we've stayed and A/C is necessary. Quiet people camp here. Nice pool. Cheap gas, water jug station and RV self wash just across the border.

Exceeded expectations

Based on reviews we were apprehensive about staying here….boy were we happy we did. Absolutely quiet. Nice shady pull through site. Campground was about 1/4 full. Strong 4g signal. Easy walk to visitor center. Only drawback were goatshead thorns….our poor dog couldn't spend much time outside without getting them in her paws.

Nice suprise

We were planning to stay elsewhere but saw this shady place from the road and decided to take a look. Road noise ceases at night until early morning. Hot spot but plenty of shady cottonwoods. Fast flowing river with camping near shoreline. Gorgeous rock art panel in campground. Nice 6 mile trail to town of Bluff. Sites are spacious with long flat gravel pads.

Modern, well-maintained overnighter

Easy day of reservation, with the easy after hours check in. Flat paved sites. Mostly a parking lot style RV park with flat pads and full hook ups. Lots of noise from the interstate, ear plugs necessary. Crossroads area offers lots of travelers amenities such as coffee shops, restaurants and several gas stations. Rotten Robbie's gas is cheapest in town.

Quiet, off freeway, overnight

Arrived very late at night. Not well marked and difficult to navigate in the dark….I may have stayed in picnic area (with a few other self contained vehicles). But very quiet, far from the noise of the 80. The bugs are awful…open your door for a second and they'll swarm any lightsource. Nonetheless, I'd stay again while traversing Nevada for an overnight.

Stopover for Exploring North Yellowstone

Tent camping sites are snug and offer no privacy. Scenic spot high above the river. Bathrooms clean, showers without timer. Right on highway but little traffic and quiet at night. Good overnight if you plan to explore Mammoth and Lamar Valley. Typically I'm traveling by motorhome so I always check out the sites….this campground had tight RV sites, no privacy, generous hook ups.

Loop camping

The first clue of how large this campground is, is during check in. A whole row of agent's are checking campers in. Once you enter your loop however things become quiet. I stayed in a tent camping loop, where almost all campers were sleeping in their vehicles like me. The problem is, tent sites have on-loop parking, there is no driveway, so it was literally a string of parallel parked rigs on both sides of the road, and the road was sloped. Each site had a private bear locker for personal storage. Bathrooms have nice, enclosed large kitchen sink for meal clean up to prevent bear attracting smells at your site. This is a high altitude camp and was very cold (high 20s) at night. Great base for explaining Canyon country and Hayden Valley. Nearby lodge, shopping and groceries.

Great location

Centrally located on western ring road making it a good home base for visiting Mammoth, Norris, Old Faithful and West Thumb. Large but quiet campground. Each site on the loop I stayed was a pull through. Very flat parking. Large, well spaced sites. Simple but clean restrooms. No showers, but you can purchase a shower at Old Faithful Inn (a must see). Each restroom has a sink so you can keep all the food smells out of your campsite. No bear lockers. Small convenience store in a trailer onsite has cheap firewood and excellent kindling. Only complaint was that there was only one water spigot on each loop. Water should be more plentiful especially to put out campfires.

Best site of my trip

Quiet! Campsites nicely spaced with lots of shrubbery between sites for more privacy. The tent pads are generously sized and flat, parking is also flat if you're sleeping in a rig. Large, private bear boxes for storage. A fox visited me by my campfire each night ❤️ Showers are nice (on a timer). Easy walk to the lake. Convenience store is well stocked with natural food choices, great espresso and wifi. Also offers cheap gas station. The deli offerings at the lodge are good. Grab an early morning breakfast burrito and head up to signal mountain for sunrise for a memorable morning!

Outstanding

Very large KOA. Had a tent site next to the creek/pond. Very quiet at night. Check in was a breeze. Camp store appeared to be well stocked. Bathrooms were spotless, large and well appointed. Showers are not on a timer. Note there are 2 KOAs in West Yellowstone. They're only a couple of minutes apart but your navigation may lead you to the wrong one. "Mountainside" is the one you're looking for.

This campground is about 10-15 minutes from the west entrance of the national park. Once you enter the park you still have a ways to travel before you reach the junction for the ring road. So it's better to stay at a campsite in the park if you want to maximize your time for sightseeing. The KOA could be used as a home base for visiting the national park but it will entail a lot of driving. This campground is best as an overnight before entering the park, or as a base to explore the town of West Yellowstone and it's attractions, or to partake of the countless activities in the Targhee National forest.

Superbly Quiet

Stayed one night while passing through Elko. Campground is about 10-15 minutes out of town but a world apart. Sites are very well spaced apart and quite large. Each site has a generous ramada over a picnic table for protection from sun or rain. Bathrooms were exceptionally clean. Took off one star for the bugs. They're attracted by light and will swarm into your tent or RV if you leave the door open even a second. One annoyance, the ranger sits at the entrance of each campsite with their truck loudly idling as they make their rounds. This is especially troubling late a night when most campers are already asleep.

Quiet

Stayed one night while passing through. We arrived Friday of Memorial Day weekend at 2pm. Filled up quickly with RVs by 3pm but two tent sites went unfilled. Sites vary in size, some large, some tight; some pull through and others back in; some level, some not. About half of the sites have a shade structure over the picnic table. Close enough to road to be easily accessible, but very quiet, no highway noise. Short, easy loop to petroglyphs and viewpoints. Amazing sunset. This is a place I'd enjoy for more than just a pass through stay. Everyone staying was very quiet, respectful and friendly.

Quiet, large private sites

Some reservable and some first come first serve campsites. Sites are offset and separated from each other lending a sense of privacy. Sites are large with lots of foliage/trees giving a lot of privacy. Nice flat pads with government issue concrete picnic tables and giant pedestal fire pits. Running creek nouse is lovely to sleep to. Quiet, quiet, quiet! Some sites are tent or RV specific. Air is cool and refreshing from desert valley heat. Lots of trees to hang your hammock from.

Tidy

Large RV park with some tent spaces and cabins. Pool, laundry room, planned social activities. Right on the Hwy so there was some road noise all night (easily solved with earplugs). Nice gift shop and convenience store onsite. Really pretty grounds. 13 quick miles to Zion. Great restaurants nearby in Virgin (we recommend Balcony One for an elegant dinner).

Convenient to Bryce

This was our second stay. We like the terraced pull through full hookup RV sites in the upper back part of the park. Privacy hedges planted between each site in the upper section. Beautiful hills, scenery. 15-20 minutes from Bryce, without the circus of "Ruby's tourist traps" right outside of the park. Really nice management. Quiet. Convenient kitchen wash area, showers, laundry in a satellite convenience station for the upper campsites. Cabins and tent sites available as well. Gas, restaurants and groceries available in the adjacent township of Tropic.

Quiet

Hesitant to let this secret secluded respite from the Bryce crowds out! This was our second stay, both times in the month of May. Only 13 quick miles to Bryce. Both times we were one of 3 or 4 campers in the whole campground. Sites are large, flat and spaced well apart providing a sense of privacy. Seven miles of well graded gravel road to get here from Hwy. 12. Tropic reservoir and boat launch adjacent to campground. Nice short hike to Hoodoos. Loads of OHV trails nearby to explore Dixie National forest and Bryce like geology. This early in the season most water spigots are off and not all bathrooms are open, perhaps more suitable for dry RVing or well prepared tent campers. You may want to bring t.p. for the clean pit toilets in the early season.

Beautiful, quiet, private

Half reservable sites, half first come first served. Some tent only and RV specific sites. Immaculate pit toilets. Flat sites. Large picnic/fire pit areas. Convenient location for visiting North Rim. Very quiet campground. Gas station, camping convenience store, propane, and coffee/food truck across the highway.

Large, private sites

Very large sites, separated by high desert alpine pine trees. Sites are far apart from each other giving a sense of privacy. Very flat sites. Mostly self contained RVs here. Quiet. Even if someone runs a generator sites are far enough apart it's still quiet. Half are reservable, the rest first come, first serve. Some sites are right next to Hwy. 89A but gets quiet at night and earplugs protect against the random late night passing truck. Immaculate pit toilets. Gas station and store across the street.

Stay here, not the KOA nextdoor

Shady respite from the Mojave. Nice tall oleander shade hedges between each site offering total privacy. Long, flat pull through sites. Beautiful tiled private showers. Swimming pool is a must on hot Mojave days. Super nice management. Close to town for meals, shopping and cheap gas across the state line. Could hear big trucks on adjacent freeway but quiet enough for a good nights rest. Stay here….it looks tropical compared to the dry, dust, shadeless parking lot of a KOA next door.

First to Review
Convenient, shady respite

Easy on/off from Hwy. 99. Nice management. Spaces large and lots of shade coverage. Close to hwy but far enough that road noise isn't onerous. Train passes through once at night time, bring earplugs. Clean, tidy, well kept campground.
