This is nice place to stay if you’re just looking for a site in a field. It’s loud and you’re on top of your neighbor but it is literally right next to the park. Good for late night concerts.
We tented here on a rainy weekend unfortunately. It was a nice site right near the water, and we saw a lot of wildlife like an armadillo, raccoon, and deer. We got out for a little bit to go for a walk and went to some of the trails which were scenic but super buggy. Bring spray and citronella candles!
We chose to rent at one of the farther sites that is more secluded and only had an outhouse for the few sites. Was a beautiful area with a river running through and very wooded. The main campgrounds were great and beautiful on the lake with extremely nice bathroom and shower building. Brought our dog as well. There is no cell service here!
Close to many options for hiking, we did snowy mountain!
I’ve been here so many times, camping in tents and also in the cabins. There are a couple different sections to choose from. Cell signal is not great in most places except the sites “on top of the hill”. There is a big lake that is very built up for swimmers and has a playground, water sport rentals and more. There are also volleyball courts and horseshoes. Great place to bring the family!
We tented here late spring so it was hot and quiet. The sites are very open and not super shaded, but they are fairly big. There is. Nice trail system to walk or bike and lots of wildlife. Kept hearing a loud shriek at night and figured it out to be an owl! (Sound in video)
Was here with a camper on a lake accessing site. Sites are fairly big but not completely separated. Having the kayaks were great, there’s so much to explore, and town is right down the road.
We tented here late in the season so it was very quiet. We really enjoyed our experience here and the location to the high peaks couldn’t be better. The staff was great! The only negative I could really give is that the sites are a little bit difficult to navigate and find, especially when arriving at dusk. Bathrooms were nice and the sites are pretty secluded. They did have a few lean to sites also.
Came as a tenter. It was awesome that they have the rocky pads because it rained our whole trip and we stayed dry. It was very quiet for us and our site faced the open woods behind us. Hiking was great and rangers were friendly! Definitely recommend.
