This is a really large campground for a state site, the weekend we visited it was full with no available sites. It should be noted that this campground does not allow for day use, only overnight camping. There are many trailhead from the campground and lots of families and kids but many of the trails do not allow for dogs, so be aware of that as well. It does offer many amenities like a dump station and playgrounds. We will come back later in the fall and hopefully it will be less busy. We like the quiet outdoors so this was a little busy for us.
Although not very large, this campground offers great outdoor enjoyment! The sites are well laid out with good space between them allowing for a bit of privacy. There is a creek that runs through many of them and they are all set up as expected with picnic tables and fire rings. The best part of this campground is the hiking and fishing possibilities all around you! The vistas were stunning and the cool weather in the area for summer was a welcome break from the heat. We will definitely be back!
Really pretty remote-ish campground along Hayden Creek. Even though the creek here was really high and moving fast this spring, there was no danger of campsites flooding. The sites are really pretty large and will accommodate more than one tent or small camper. There are fire pits with grills and picnic tables, and a fairly decent vault. (It’s worth noting that there are several camping areas just outside the campground that don’t offer the grill and table, but are free and are also along the creek. ) It’s worth the hike if your able, up towards Rainbow, but there are also nice trails along the creek. There has not been a host here any of the three times we’ve visited.
I really can’t say enough praise about how beautiful this campground is! A real nice scattering on trees everywhere to break the daytime sun and allows for good shade. The sites are nicely laid out with picnic table, fire ring and grills, and high post hooks. The vaults are clean and well managed. The site host was super friendly with a nice dog. But its the spectacular views are what will take your breath away. Honestly, I don’t think there is a bad site to be had here. Trail access is great too. Plenty to see and do!
