First time tent camping in 25 years. Rented one electric site and onenon-electric right next to it for a two tent set up for my family of five adults and two children and one dog. The sites were level, clear, and pristine. A small wooded area separated the tinting area from the RV site with a nice little grove of trees between each campsite. We had a full view of the playground where the young ones had a blast! The pool down the road was perfect for the kids and just right for adults to get in and cool off. Firewood is available at the office and while we didn’t spend time at the pond where there are canoes/kayak for use it was very beautiful.
The bathhouse was okay, only reason I subtracted a star. It is part of a nice sized pavilion with a game room, and washer/dryer, & picnic tables for bingo or other activities. I truly appreciate that during this pandemic time they asked all campers with facilities to use their own showers to more safely accommodate tent campers.
I wanted to camp someplace close to home for a previously scheduled doctor appointment so this place was perfect! I picked up things we forgot to bring in town enroute. It wasn’t until day 4 of 6 that we checked out the camp store. There’s NO need to go to town! They have everything you could need! Including pillows! We ran out of paper plates on day four. By the time we realized & approached the store it was closed. However, the gentleman who phones/works there asked what we needed. He said he would let Theresa know. He arrived in a golf cart at our campsite 20 minutes later with a pack of paper plates! Talk about blown-away! The owner Theresa was very pleasant and helpful and very accommodating when on our last day we were not ready to leave our campsite by 11 AM. (Noobie campers.) We didn’t leave the site till 130 but she worked with us. Very gracious.
The campground is approximately 15 minutes from Rickets Glen State Park where there is lots of hiking for all levels of experience along a series of magical waterfalls! The campgrounds are slightly hilly but each site is level. I just loved this place. We camped Monday to Saturday early August and and only one other campsite Was occupied till Friday night. I am excited to return. And I highly recommend!
(Tent camper) Very clean campground. Level spacious sites for tents and electric/sewer water hook-ups for RV/campers.. Playground on the lower loop. Hiking trails throughout. Great fishing, boating…kayak and canoe rentals. Park pool or swimming at a daily discounted rate for campers. Pool concession carries ice and other items. Let’s of nearby homes offer firewood typically $4 a night bundle. They have walk-in primitive tent sites as well as electric sites for tents. Assigned dog sites. Love going here!
Only gave 4 stars because I believe campers ought to be able to swim for free as most pool business comes from the surrounding community. That’s always been a sore spot with me. I’ve been coming here for 25 years.
