We've camped here a few times during the summer and the beginning of fall. About 40 dispersed camping spot, first come first serve. Great trail to ride down going to stony pass and wellington lake. Pretty maintained road for a dirt road. Most camping spots can fit quite a few tents, with privacy from the next campspot.
Definitely best of all worlds. If you want more trees, stay further in or closer to the road. If you want to stay close to the edge of the mountain, there's that too. Little more off-road in this area but lots of spots. It's just north up the pay Lakeview campground.
Got here late at night on the 4th of July weekend, was able to find a spot. Stayed the whole weekend. Super relaxing. Lots of trees. Stayed near the browns creek trail head. Restrooms there, along with a few temp toilets around.
