One of the only campground that would let me book a site at 18 when I first started camping with my friends. I believe it’s Privately owned, many great people up there, still go there today! Have a pool and hiking trail with a great view! Very quite, relaxed and friendly. Also very clean as well.
Stokes is the classic state forest camping, I’ve staying on group sites which are large and lots of fun to bring friends and family. Plenty of room to play games, volleyball, kickball, football are some we enjoy. Great hiking within the park and other local trails close by. Fresh drinking water! It’s so good! Bathrooms and property are clean, Rangers don’t tend to bother visitors, unless causing a issue/ruckus. The park has a no alcohol policy, however if your responsible and out of sight with it, it’s not an issue. Always a fun time at Stokes, lake with fishing, smaller sites and lean-toos are available.
Campground is placed 10 minutes from the bottom of Lake George with great hiking trails in the surrounding area. The campground it’s self it’s very clean in every aspect. On a river with water activities, beach, pool, a BAR, and so many more outdoor activities. Every night there are wagon tours of the campground, staff is seen frequently but very relaxed environment. Very family and pet friendly (They have their own dog park!) This was my 5th summer going up with friends and about our 8th trip overall and every time it’s a great experience!
