Swift Forest Camp

Awesome little spot up the street from Beaver Bay. The campground itself is clean and the hosts are really nice. Campsites are on the smaller side and there is a weird mix of cabins and campground.

Water was really low when we visited in late august so not too many boats on the water which made it very peaceful.

Beaver Bay Campground

We had been coming here for the past several years just to play in the water, this year we decided to stay an evening to really check it out. Campground is nice, bathrooms are clean but the spaces are way to close together especially if you are in a tent; you can hear everything. Not too many lights so we were able to see the comet that was going over us in late July.

No alcohol allowed but the town of Cougar is minutes away…

Returned in late august and the water in the lake was green with algae (gross! gross! gross!)

Crescent Lake Campground

This is one of 3 campgrounds on the lake and by far the busiest. Sites are larger than normal so you aren't sitting onto of each other. Some sites overlook the lake and the rest sit in a very relaxing forest setting. There are yurts on site that are really nice.

Camp host is awesome (Summer of 2020) and bathrooms (outhouses) are cleaned every morning. Potable water available all over the campground.

The Guard Station

Been staying here for a number of years and love the spot, its quiet and has a view of the lake + shower and a flush toilet. Clean running water inside as well as outside. A fire pit and picnic table over look the lake and a front porch with chairs for that morning sun.

This time around the place doesn't seem as clean as in years past (you clean it yourself and the forest service says they do a deep clean once a week, which I would question) and we would find droppings on the kitchen table in the morning. There was also something crawling between the walls that liked to make noise around 5 am every morning, so no sleeping in if you are sleeping in the bedroom.

I don't think this is worth $120 a night for all the work you need to put in (cleaning, own linens and hall away your trash) especially with COVID and the extra time it took to really wipe stuff down.
