Don’t let the dilapidated mobile home near the entrance scare you away. This place is super well maintained. Every site is well thought out and has great hookups. I thought a plug water and sewer was pretty uniform. Our site had a pedestal with 20/30/50 amp and then another with 30 20 feet further into the site. Lots of shade. The sites along the south edge of the property have amazing views of the Cortez valley and Sleeping Ute Mountain. Really nice communal fire pit, dog park and some trails too. Some sites have a beautiful brick fire ring too.
We had site 22 which is away from the stream. Quite steep front to back. Level side to side. We were at our limit of ability to level the TT. Almost every site is big and well spaced. The whole area is treed with TALL lodgepoll pines with a few TALL ponderosa pines as well. Absolutely stunning. If you need solar, this is not the place. Otherwise it’s lovely.
We love to come here to get great views of the Spanish Peaks. This time we had site 93 that faced away from the peaks. Still gorgeous but is a subtle way.
Sites are narrow but doable. Not a place to hang out all day but a nice base close to town at a reasonable price. It is near a hill so trucks engines can get loud if your site is near the road. We were away from the road and it wasn’t an issue. Easy access to I-90 but no noise from the interstate.
No need to print receipt as the email says but if you don’t print it, call ahead. Also if you plan to use the lake, call ahead. It is drained once per year, usually in July. It’s only empty for about a week to ten days. We stayed at Sandy Point. Close to the lake, provided there is one. Also close to the train tracks. I like trains so it wasn’t an issue. Also they are going slow and are pretty quiet for freight trains. This is a great place to base to see numerous historical sites.
I passed off about 75 feet between sites. Most have views of the lake. At the moment the water level is very low and facilities near this campground are high and dry.
Kind lady took our reservation over the phone. Clean place. The hookups looked fairly new. New plantings around. A bit of traffic noise but almost no traffic.
Neat and clean. The reservation was taken by a kind lady offsite. Easy directions to the site. Nice off leash dog park. All the hookups seemed new. There is occasional road noise but very little traffic.
The picnic table was rotted and unusable. Many occupied sites had junk laying around. On the bright side, the sites were. Shaded by big trees. This was shielded from road noise by buildings and fences.
We called about an hour out to get a site. Super friendly and helpful with dinner recommendations. Fairly quiet area and every site is a pull through
Even the official State Park description mentions highway and train noise. But the landscape is wonderful. Watching the sunlight play out on the canyon walls sold me. I’ll be back again. Probably wouldn’t spend a lot of time here but as an easy stop for a night, directly off of I70, it’s a winner.
Central to Bryce Canyon to the west and Grand Staircase Escalante to the east. Very nice hosts and Fantastic food at the Mexican food truck. Sites are dirt with trees and just about enough space for a slide on one side and an awning on the other.
Super clean area with friendly staff. Er had a full hook up pull through site. Some noise from the side by sides but that’s to be expected. From 20pm-7am it’s silent. There’s WiFi outside the office 24/7. No cell service. The Dunes are right beside the campground. Amazing soft pink sand.
We’ve stopped here a few times. We got a late start going from Denver to central Utah. That’s why we love this park. It is the KOA of state parks. 2 blocks from I70. Well manicured and spacious sites along a loop.
We pulled in at 1pm just as everyone was leaving after the Native Americans Day weekend. Most spaces filled up by 5. Sunset has paved small back in spaces and just a few pull throughs. Most are small suitable for up to 15-22’ TTs . There is a 30’ rig too. Drove to the Canyon View loop to check it out. Fair road, nothing a passenger car couldn’t handle. Check out sites 2, 6 and 8 for amazing canyon views. Most sites are small with just a couple to accommodate a big rig. All free and not even an entrance fee. 7 nights max. No hookups.
Nice little area of cleared land that would comfortably hold 2 rigs. No fire ring or table or improvements of any kind. We have a 20’ TT towing with a Mercedes SUV. About 4 miles of good dirt rd. No issues at all getting here.
Nothing fancy but great views of the lake and always some amazing waterfowl. Just drive in and pick one of 4 spots. We’re always the only ones there.
This place is a nice spot to base out of while visit the western suburbs of Denver. AC hookups and water. There is a dump station. It can get some highway noise.
We had site 6. Very clean and lots of little trails to walk. Fantastic level concrete pad. Water and electric. Gate closes at sunset, don’t be late!
Easy access off of the highway. 6 designated RV sites. All were taken. We pulled up to the west edge and had fantastic views from Guadeloupe Peak to Carlsbad Caverns. 15 RVs spent the night while we were there.
