Good for the skys

Easy walk from the parking area with intermittent views of the river. A few stairs but mostly flat. The river along the camp site was dry due to the time of year. Most sites are very exposed, I would bring extra shade for your site if you'll be here in the summer. But a great view of the sky and stars if it's not cloudy. Saw quails and deer around the campground.

Firepits, picnic tables, and food storage boxes at all sites. Bathrooms (with soap!), drinking water, trash and recycling available.

The trail leading out to the coast from the beach was washed out and currently dead ends at the river not too far from the camp site, but you can take the trail out to the beach from the parking area. The purple sand was really cool.

The site has a lot of road noise which was my one complaint. Site was quite windy due to being on the coast.

easy access to beautiful

minutes walk form many trail heads and beautiful views. also close to a small store. some of the sites are VERY close together so choose wisely! all the ameneties are easy to access.

pretty and busy!

walk in. no reservations. we ended up sharing a site with some awesome folks. great hikes straight out of the campsite. bathrooms and water available.

amazing. bring water!

outstanding. was there in late january. first come first serve so get there early! bathrooms but no water access and the main entrance is about 45 drive, so come prepared. great access to climbing walking distance or short drive. stunning rock formations and sunrise/sunsets.

beautiful place to camp

an easy/moderate short hike in (mile or so) from the parking lot. NOT car camping. beautiful trees and views. trails take you to the shore or around point reyes. would not reccemend the fire road trail. it was crazy overgrown with poison oak . Picnic table but no fires.

HOT in summer

great park for day hikes, but drive up early or there will be 0 parking. if you are camping in summer bring a shade structure just in case you land a site in sunlight. some on the spots right along the road looked really small and cramped so choose wisely! great amenities- water, restrooms, store, pool. fire restrictions are strict in summer as well starting around june.

conveient place to stay

super close and accessable to Mammoth (5min walk to the main road, 30min walk/5 min drive to the brewery). clean bathrooms, lots of water spouts close by. shady trees to camp under and put up hammocks and slack lines. you can hear street traffic at night. the sites in the mid 20s to upper 30s are right along a fence next to a residental area, that was a little wierd. overall decent place to stay. lots of cell service.
