Part of the Campground is Closed for the Winter

The northern most part of the campground is closed for the winter months but the southern end close to the boat ramp is open with just a few sites.  There is a park host onsite.  I rode through and did not see a bathhouse or bathroom.  The  camp is a bit further south than is depicted on the maps.  It is south of the dam and well marked.

Great place and very quiet

I drove down to do an overnighter and the place is gorgeous. I'm in the primitive alone and it is going to be nice.  I noticed there was a comment about the campground host.   The host has changed and these folks could not have been nicer.  They came and sat at my campsite and we talked about the lake and the roads around the lake.  I had a great time

Great overnight spot for RV

If your traveling on 44 0r 66 its a good place for an overnight park.  I've never stayed there but have driven by it many times.   It's basically a gravel parking lot.

Depends on the Time of Year

I write this review as an observer.  I live in the area.  The park is gated (un-maned) and access is not restricted.  There is a outhouse with water.  They have made some improvements in the last few years but this area used to gather a lot of riff-raff.   The other camp located just a short distance away is gated (Maned) and the sites all have water and electric.  If your on a budget this place is great.  If you want to feel a bit more secure, I recommend the other camp!  I would not recommend this as a family vacation site.

Not for Motorcycles

I've never been there but the reviews and the website look wonderful.  I only reviewed to say it's probably not a good place for motorcycles to get in and out.  The road in is dirt and gravel.   I'd still love to go try it car camping though.

Middle of the Week quiet!

I rolled into this camp around 4 in the evening looking for a place for the night.  Be aware this site requires registration on the park service website.  You have to make reservation and pay online due to covid 19 prevention measures.  They can not accept payment at the gate!  I was the only one in the primitive area and it was really nice and quiet.  The closest toilet is an outhouse but in the RV section there is a nice bathhouse and bathrooms that are well maintained and stocked.  I saw Deer, Geese and Turkey.

Was a good place to stay. Convinient to some really Preatty watter falls

I moved to Falls Creek Falls to get away from Rain and storms to the Southeast.  I have a small Motorcycle camper and had a friend along with his.  the electric sites were a bit expensive for not needing hook ups.  30 Bucks a night but we put both campers on one site.  There are lots of facilities and the bathhouses are very clean and maintained.  There are stores onsite for knickknacks and soft supplies.  A restaurant/grill that has some pretty good food.  Firewood is available for 10 bucks a bundle.  It was Poplar wood and very green but you just have to know a bit about firewood and dig through the pile to find dry.    All the roads are paved and the sites are somewhat level.  The falls are worth seeing.  Even though I like more primitive surroundings, I will probably stay there again.

It's rustic

A very quiet campground that does allow you to have a fire in your campsite. There is wood for sale. The bathhouse is very nice. The views from most of the sites are breathtaking.

Great Camp

I stumbled across this place while traveling across Alabama. A bit rustic but it has a great bathhouse. Lots of locals at the camp. Very friendly place. I'll definitely stop in there again when I am.in that area.

Typical City Run Campground

This is a City run state park. A very nice lake with a swimming beach, hiking trails, and recently added ATV course 😡 they screwed up a lot of pristine wilderness area to try and attract ATVs. There are two camping areas. The one on the east side of the lake is a bit more primitive but still has hook ups and a bathroom (seasonal) the main camp is open year round.

Nice campground

This campground is easily accessible. The bathhouse was a little ruff but with shower shoes, you will survive. Campsites are easy to get in and out of and the folks I meet including the park attendant were really good people.
