I have not camped here but had a family member use the campground while visiting the area. They spoke very highly of it. They have a large camper and stayed for a few nights.

I've been here quite a few times to fish. Great fishing spot.

We crashed here overnight on our way further up north. We decided to go wayyyy up into the Keweenaw and wanted to break up the trip. We stayed here for one night in one of their cabins. It was clean and comfy and allowed our dog too! We did not have time to explore the amenities of the campground but if I were to make the trip again, I'd stay here.

We came up here on a baby moon before our first child came into the world. We fished the fossil ledges (caught a ton of smallmouth on a blue and silver spoon), traveled the orv trails, ate local food, and just explored the island. I want so badly to get back up there when my kids are a little older. I know they'll love it.

I've stayed here multiple times while living in CO. It's a great place to stay for a few nights. Great views, close to town if needed, quiet, and tranquil. I've recommended this spot to friends passing through and they loved it!

I'd like to begin by stating that we have stayed here in a tent and in a camper. Both times we enjoyed it very much.

We had a great time fishing, walking the trails, playing at the playground, and playing the disc golf course.

This is a great campground. The only criticism I have is not that it is a primitive camp ground, I can handle that no problem, but when visiting a primitive campground I've come to expect quiet and some degree of tranquility. The lake is a great part of the area but it is quite loud early morning and sometimes late into the night.

All that being said. I'll be going back again.

The one thing this campground has going for it is the location: Right on Lake Huron. We reserved (after trying so many times) a spot right on the lakeshore with its own private trail to the beach. We were very excited. Sadly, lake levels are at historically high levels and thus there was no beach. The waves did, however, sound amazing while sitting by the fire and when laying down in the tent at the end of the night. Lastly, in my opinion, most of the camp sites are way too small and therefore seem way too close together. Without the beach the entire appeal of this campground is gone. If you are looking to camp on or near a beach on one of the Great Lakes I would look elsewhere.

The other picture shows the absence of the beach. This was about 15 feet from the back of our campsite. It did make for great ambient noise (as mentioned above).

I first camped here in college when some friends organized a group to go during our spring break. It was such a fun time. Our site was private and had great access to the pond/river below. The rangers stopped by just to say hi and were very cool.

Remembering this trip and camping area, my wife and I decided to take our toddler on his first rustic camping trip. It was a bit stressful as our site had a significant drop off to the river below. This meant we were constantly chasing our crazy kid to ensure he didn’t take a tumble down. There are sites with a much less significant drop off. Our goal is to get one of those next year. That being said, it was a lot of fun. There were steps at our site that made it easy for us to carry and put in our kayaks for day trips on the Cooke Dam Pond. Fishing was excellent. Sunsets and sunrises were great. Our site had lots of shade and space. I would definitely recommend this place. Book early to have your pick of sites or late to look for last minute cancellations.

This was one of our go-to spots. If we needed a place to get outta dodge for a weekend with no fear of having a spot available, this was the spot. The creek flowing by the camp makes for a great nights sleep and to toss a line into. If, by some crazy happening, the campsite is full or you don’t want to pay…keep on truckin’ down the road and you might be able to find a free dispersed camp spot (some of which are by the water as well). Overall, it’s a great space close to Summit county that is not widely known.

I have been coming to this campground since I was very young. It started as a small group of close family and friends. Everyone loved it so much they started inviting others and now we have a HUGE group that meets up every year. It is a highlight of my summer.

Love the beach during the day and at night. Being able to shower in clean facilities is nice and Ruth Ann’s ice cream is a short walk or bike ride to one end of the park. We are bringing our son back this summer to carry on the tradition.
