I have been to this place twice and I have camped in three different areas. The park has always been very clean. The Rangers are very helpful and nice. If you want to backpack the 11 mile loop you will need to get a permit from the Ranger in advance. The backcountry sites have trash cans and pit toilets for convenience. There is a nearby water source but it will need to be filtered. Other things to do…walk in the prairie, hike, climb a tower, play at the playground, picnic, etc… it’s a very nice place to visit.

If you are the type that likes to kick back and camp out with a group of friends then this is the place to be. There is a port a Jon on the spot to use. At a small hike to the river but a steep one and you may need to traverse some rocks to get down and back up. My kids like to follow the waterfall up. I personally like this spot because I grew up not far from it and it feels like home to me. If you come make sure to find a site on high ground if rain is coming in. Plenty of room here for tents and hammocks.

I have been coming to this place every year since my first year of college. The views are amazing and the campsites for backpackers is the place to be. I think it's a little unknown to most that there are better campsites you just have to pack in for them. There is always something new to discover. I have been coming out for 15 years now and this last year my cousin and I found a new campsite with an uninterrupted view and far away from the crowds. What an amazing place to be.
