The road down was very sketchy for my 2008 Mazda 3. It’s a very simple campground but in a great location near the ozarks.
If you come from the East you will pass horsecamp that only has paid for sites. Continue down the road you will see a sign for a second horse camp skip that as well! If you go to the end and take a right there will be spots at the beggining of the trail heads secluded with fire rings. They are drive in. Much more private as well as no smell of horse poop. lol
I got to Mohican a little late. Decided to do this free spot to save money. Well hidden with no view. Also had to dodge lots of horse manure. I definitely should have gotten a paid for spot.
I made sure to be a little early to make sure the drive in spots were not all taken. There are also spots right now the new river which in reality are nicer. The trailhead at the top of the campground was beautiful for hiking. Not great for trail runners though. Overall this place was beautiful clean and safe.
