I have been here twice and each time has been great. Big spacious sites with alot of privacy. Hikes are great around here. Bathrooms are clean.
If you want pictures you can actually go onto Google maps streetview and see every single campsite.
First off let me state this was an amazing trip. Renting a boat and taking it on an adventure towards an island was something new. I was not expecting Campsites to be amazing, maybe just plotted and Maintained alittle. When we got there we checked in and were told by the worker "this is my home and I expect you to treat it with respect." I can only imagine what this person's actual home looked like after dealing with these Campsites.
There were no leveled space whatsoever (except for one platform per site…but where would a second tent go? On the horrible ground beside it. These sites have not been maintained in probably 20 years at least. The wooden porta pottys or whatever you call them were grotesque.
And the raccoon situation…was bad. We were literally bombarded with a group of raccoons each night. It was bad.
We had sites 3-7 and they were all the same. Honestly I will never go back here just because of how horrible the sites were.
Went here twice. First time was to site 7 which was large, private, well maintained and mostly gravel (which I'm assuming is why there was less ticks). The second time I went to site 17 which was large, not maintained at all and ticks everywhere. There was a small gravel area because and we stayed there because of how many ticks there were. Zero privacy on this site.
The bathroom is fine but no shower (which doesn't matter).
Because of the lake (still water) the bug situation is out of control.
Honestly I won't be going back here because of the tick issues and how they clearly choose which sites to maintain or not. There are many other options close by such as stokes or worthington that are much better.
This is by far my favorite campground in NJ. I have been going here for years now and nothing beats the view (most sites are right on the water).
I can only speak for the south end of the campground (tent sites only) but the sites mostly are large in size. Not the usually square or rectangle shape sites but more natural looking. Most sites have an abundant amount of privacy. Site 20 is a huge site but no privacy. Sites 17,18,19 have the most privacy being only able to see from the driveway and no view from the sides of the peripheral sites. Site 16 has a long winding driveway but on the left side of the site has an opening to see site 15. Site 18 is by far my favorite, it’s probably the biggest site I have ever encountered as a non-group site. To the point where you can have an actual football game on it. All of these sites have ample shade. There are 2 porter potties in front of 18 but since the sites are so far apart no one is really using it. Next to site 16 are the showers and bathroom (and outside the building are outlets and a dish washing sink). This bathroom is by far the cleanest one I have ever seen. Always clean over the years. Showers are hot and good pressure. The trails around this campground offer great views especially the sunfish pond and the mount Tammany trails.
