Way to go Oklahoma!

I don’t know much about the Midwest or typical Midwest camping, but I thought it was perfect. It was really quiet (and totally empty), the area was clean and walking around the grounds was perfect… but it was October. I liked checking out the abandoned campsites that eroded due to flooding. I got spot 42 which has the perfect view and lots of space, but the pad is on an incline and my jacks couldn’t extend without using rocks that were already there for that very reason. Waking around, I really liked spots 54-58. They are close together, but such a beautiful spot.

Ok

We drove from Long Beach. It’s a little far to travel for a campground that doesn’t have cool trails, big trees or creeks or anything. It’s nicely kept, but it’s probably better if you are local. There was a drought this year and the place was all brown. However, on the way to Solvang it hit me that you could do wine tasting while staying here. Maybe I’ll be back with a different plan when the place is greener!

Perfect

Loved the campground and the camp host is the best! We hiked the creek and loved the tree coverage. It’s even beautiful enough to enjoy despite the horrible campers that are so loud you can hear them in the canyon from dawn to dusk. The websites say that max 22’ RV is recommended. I drove a 24’ and managed the treacherous switchbacks… but much bigger and you’ll either get stuck or fall off the edge of a cliff.

Camping in the woods

It’s a huge park, lots of spots. We went during the week and it was empty, quiet and peacefully. Stayed at the weekend camp hosts spot and it was perfect!

Great Find

Follow the signs to “ camping”. There was nobody there and a pretty awesome playground for the kids. clean accessible and a drive through a quaint little town. What else could you ask for?
