Gold Bluffs Beach was a respite from the wildfire smoke of summer 2018. 8 miles from the 101, 2 of which is a rough, unpaved road, sets this unique campsite away from the hustle-bustle of the human condition. The constant marine layers and cool winds ensure that only those wishing solitude or a challenging camp environment will visit. The brisk ocean beach is stunning. Nearby Fern Canyon legendary. Campsite facility shockingly has both showers and WiFi - perfect for your adventurer who needs to check on the status of their other life. Oh yes, don’t forget about the elk. 😉

Doug Fir campground is a great little campground on the way to Mt. Baker. The Nooksack river provides a beautiful white noise generator that gives you additional sound privacy from your neighbors. I recommend reserving one of the spots along the river. From this campground you can explore great hikes along the Mt. Baker Hwy.

The Oklahoma Campground up 7 miles from Willard, WA was a pleasant place to stay for a quick, overnight getaway. There was sufficient room for one or two tents per campsite and the tables and fire pits were serviceable. While Moss Creek Campground is rated higher on some sites, Oklahoma feels a bit farther away from civilization. toilets were clean and camp host was helpful and friendly.
