Well. I would have liked to have stayed here as we had reservations. Due to issues beyond our control we arrived after dark and the park closes and locks the gate at sunset. So there we are with reservations and can’t get in so we have to scramble to find something else. But let’s say we did arrive before they shut the gate. We wouldn’t have been able able to go out to eat or get groceries after dark. And if we had to call 911 the responders would have been slowed down by having to get the gate open. I wouldn’t want to put myself in that type of dangerous or inconvenient situation. Totally ridiculous.
I live too close to this State Park to camp here but I do play the golf course. Very nice and expect to see deer and turkey.
In addition there are some good places in nearby Dickson to eat. Tony B’s for burgers, Back Alley for BBQ, Zander’s for Pizza and Katie’s for ice cream.
The bonus is that it is an easy drive to Nashville.
We stayed here recently while visiting friends in the area and this purpose it worked well. Plenty of grassy area. A family oriented campground with plenty of amenities to keep children entertained.
Full hook ups and well maintained.
Very much enjoyed our 2 recent stays here. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The road to get there is steep but obviously doable even with our 38’ gas MH. We stayed at the premium sites on top. The views are terrific, the sites have adequate space and the campground is very well maintained. If you are looking for a campground near Asheville where you can relax after a long day then this fits the bill well.
We stayed at this campground recently and because the wifi coverage and speed was so good was actually able to "work from home" here. We were on site 18 and it was very level, paved and double wide. Parking was easy and it accommodated the 38' RV and a SUV. The sites all seem to be well shaded and spaced sufficiently apart. Travel to and from the park is on good roads. Chapel Hill, just to the north, offers all you might need with a hardware store, Dollar General, walk in clinic and restaurants. The park also offers a golf course which I didn't play due to the heat, but is on my list now that I've seen it.
The trails we hiked were well maintained and there is a quiet paved road suitable for bicycling.
Because of the close proximity to home, this will become on of our go-to spots for a weekend camp
We stayed here for three nights in Mid-October 2019. The site we had was in the Annex portion and the parking pad was long, wide and level. Plenty of room to park a large RV and car or boat. In addition the site offered plenty of space for chairs to socialize and faces into the surrounding foliage versus the RV next door.
The site was set at an angle that made backing into a breeze and level to the paved road. The site included a picnic table, 2 posts to hang lanterns, etc and a fire ring.
While fairly full the campground was quiet and all the other other campers were very respectful of each other.
The campground is ideal for riding bicycles around as you can ride from the Annex to the main campground, the snack bar, and the trout fish hatchery without encountering a lot of vehicle traffic. While there are some hills the grades are long and not too steep.
The hatchery is open every day but Christmas, is free, and is very educational. You can walk though the whole operation and see the trout in different stages of growth. In addition there is a man made trout stream that take the water from the hatchery to the Cumberland River and it is a beautiful stroll along the banks to see the different habitats that make trout stream. Catch and release fishing is allowed.
The snack bar offers pretty good fare at a reasonable price and sells firewood and ice on the honor system when closed at night.
If you need supplies or a dinner out Jamestown is not too far and offers most of the "Generica" you would expect.
While I didn't use the bathhouses the buildings suggested newer construction and they offer washer and dryers.
Expect to see deer in abundance as well as ducks and blue heron.
Kamp Siesta is an establish campground in shade trees located adjacent to the fairgrounds and city park. The park is very nice and suitable for walking or biking and is on a bluff that overlooks the Neosho River. The park includes a swimming pool, tennis courts, pavilions, and playgrounds. Amenities such as gas stations, hardware store, restaurants and groceries are all with a mile or two of the campground and well separated from them by quite neighborhoods. While there is not a lot to do in Oswego itself, it is close to strip pits east of town left over from coal mining that are good for fishing and there is a nice 9 hole golf course just west of town. There is also fishing down on the river. This river is known for it's large catfish. The park is easy to access from the highway and plenty of room to maneuver larger rigs. I grew up in this area and know it well. The campground is quiet and well patrolled and at $10 a night it a cheap but relaxing place to stop and unwind.
I believe it is open year round.
Pin Oak Lake Campground is very nice. Well maintained with full hookups and plenty of space separating the sites. The lake itself is very clear water. Easy to access the park from I-40 but it is a bit of a drive from the exit. All good roads and location makes the campground quiet. Plenty of activities in the park and close to some Civil war battlefields. Our 38’ RV was easy to park on the generous pad. Take plenty of food as a trip to the store is a bit of a drive.
We have stayed here 3 times now as it is close to family. This is a very nice well maintained city park with campsites. It sits along the Neosho River but us elevated enough that it doesn’t flood. The electrical is recently updated with 50 and 30 amp service and last year the city installed a new bath house. There is a playground, pavilion and a ball field all within the park and the sites are generously spaced apart. Free WiFi is also provided. It’s a great deal at $15 a night.
