Had a really good cell signal and was able to work using my AT&T hotspot. You have to drive around and find the right spot because my signal fluctuated from 1-3 bars. You’re on the mesa so it’s a little chillier than in Moab. Very clean vault toilets, biking trails, and location is great right outside the entrance to Canyonlands! Would definitely stay again.

The North Rim campground is great. The guy who checked us in was very helpful, the camp store had plenty of supplies and firewood, and the bathrooms were clean and well-lit. It is extremely quiet. Even at about 8:30 pm, you couldn’t hear the other campers (and the CG is full)! I would love to stay here again! Note: the showers and laundry are closed due to COVID-19.

This spot isn’t a difficult hike, so it’s great for inexperienced backpackers. To get there, you hike a dry river/creek bed. The site is higher up than the trail. The elevated location gives you a great view of the canyon.

There’s a rock in this site that offers privacy, so people have turned it into a bathroom. There wasn’t trash around, but there was definitely an odor over by that rock. It didn’t affect the part of the site where we had our tents.

We had a clear night, and the starriest sky I’ve ever seen!

I’d love to camp here again!

We stayed here for two nights, in site 32, which is a double site. Be aware that the Moose loop has lots of excellent trees, but there are none in the Elk loop. The trees help create a buffer between campsites. The vault toilets were really clean, and the campground is beautiful.

Its a short walk from the campground to Brainard Lake and several trailheads. We saw a couple of moose during our stay too. Overall this is one of the best campgrounds in the area - highly recommend!!

This campground is in the middle of nowhere, in the best way. Although it is popular and was full when we were there, it’s a pretty small campground and spread out, so it didn’t feel crowded at all. Magnificent views of the needles, and the Chesler Park trail system connects to the campground (though this will add a mile or two to the trails, depending on your route). We were there Sept 9-11, and the weather was perfect! Site 25B is close to the neighboring site, but both sites are large with space to spread out. Loved this campground and will definitely be back!

We stayed here Oct 1-Oct 4 in sites 9 and 43. The campground is in a rather narrow, scenic valley with beautiful views. The sites all seemed good and well-spaced with trees between for privacy. The bathrooms were clean and the camp hosts were hospitable.

Site 43 was wonderful! It’s a very large, private site with room for an RV and multiple tents. There is a path from the site to the creek, and we saw a bear across the creek one evening!

I’ll definitely stay here again.

Nice campground, but pretty cold on Labor Day weekend. Very clean bathrooms. Close to Telluride, so it’s a good alternative to spending $400 a night at a local hotel! The whole area is gorgeous and I wish we’d had more time for hiking!

We stayed here in September 2018, in the tent area. We didn’t have reservations, but lucked into a spot. The camp hosts we had were awful, yelling at people and definitely on a power trip. But otherwise the campground is great! It’s adjacent to the fruit orchards, which you can just wander into and pick fruit for yourself! There were a lot of deer in the CG, too. Nice bathrooms with a dish sink on the outside. I definitely hope to stay here again!

Stayed late Feb. 2019 Camped in back of Upper Loop

Channel Islands NP is magical. You and your things get dropped off by the ferry, then you head to your campsite. When we were there, work was being done in the lower CG, so we moved to the very back of the upper CG. It was a fortunate move, because the views from the upper are amazing. It’s not that far from the ferry drop off, depending on how much stuff you’re carrying. There aren’t cars or anything so you have to physically carry everything. It’s an easy walk. The campsite was level and clean, with water provided. It was extremely quiet, with only two other sites occupied and one ranger on the island. I couldn’t recommend it more highly! The trails on Santa Cruz were great, too. Hike to Smugglers Cove and to Potato Harbor, if you can!

South CG is situated near the VC and the Watchman CG. We had a “walk-in” site on the riverbank (no river access, though, due to intense shrubbery and a fence). These walk-in sites are just across the Pa’rus trail from where you park your car - there’s no real distance to carry your things, so don’t let that deter you! These walk-in sites were a little nicer because you’re slightly more spread out, but the Pa’rus trail traffic is running between your site and your car. We didn’t have any issues with noise. Considering that the CG was full, it was surprisingly quiet. The specific site we stayed in, #72, was covered in anthills and ants. The camp hosts were helpful, but apparently this is a recurring problem with site #72, so I’d just select a different spot. The other walk-to sites didn’t seem affected by the ant problem. We put our tent in front of the car on the paved parking pad, which was ant-free.

We camped in the F Loop for three nights in July 2018. This campground is great because they sell firewood until late, the shower facilities are clean and private, and it is in the best part of the park! The geysers are great, but my favorite areas are Yellowstone Lake and Lamar Valley. Canyon Campground is right between these areas, providing a great starting point for your daily adventures! The campsites do not have tent pads, so you just put your tent up wherever there’s a flat spot. There are lots of trees, and even though the campground was full, it didn’t feel crowded!

We stayed here two nights. Although the campground is enormous, the individual sites are pretty well-spaced out. We were in a tent-only loop (Loop J) which was nice because we didn’t hear any RV noises. The campground has showers and laundry facilities, too. I would camp here again, though I preferred Canyon Campground within the park.

We camped here again during the first-come first-serve season, in March 2018. It was frigid and it snowed quite a bit, but the campsite was great. There was a hill behind the site which provided a little protection from the wind. Camping here in winter was a completely different experience than in summer! I don’t think we ever saw a ranger.

This site isn’t really big enough for an RV of any size. It didn't affect us, as we were tent camping, but we saw our neighbors really struggling for like an hour trying to get into their site. That said, the view of the dunes and mountains from #25 is spectacular. It backs up to the restroom (flush toilets), which was only a minor nuisance due to extra foot traffic around our site. There is a camp store in the campground with firewood and water and whatever else you may have forgotten (like jiffy pop and s’mores sticks)! All of the sites have their own bear boxes, too.

Camped here over Labor Day weekend 2017, during the film festival. It is a bit of a drive into town, but the campground is very scenic and the sites are well-spaced. Overall a great experience. The camp host wasn’t ever around to sell us firewood, but we were able to buy some at a grocery store in Telluride. Definitely recommend.

Compared to the RMNP Moraine Park Campground, this one has somewhat more privacy and MUCH nicer restrooms! However, this area of the park is a little less scenic than Moraine Park. Our site had a tree limb dangling uncomfortably close to the fire ring, but we kept an eye on it and it was fine! The tent pad was large enough to set up two tents (for four people). There is a large bluff or steep hill behind the site, which gave us a little more privacy. I would definitely camp here again!

I just started camping in 2017, and Moraine Park was my first experience with tent camping! The campground is extremely busy (in summer), but the facilities were well-maintained and clean. We were lucky to get a site with tall rocks on one side, which separated us from a neighboring site. A few deer came into our site in the evening. There are shared bear boxes near the restrooms, which was great, except at night when walking over toward the restrooms! Why put all the bear goodies next to a place people will be going during the night?? But overall, it was a fun enough experience to make me want to camp all the time! Also, Rocky Mountain National Park is just the most beautiful place to wake up early and go hiking!
