We camped here for one night on our way to the Black Hills. Our campsite was nothing special but swimming in the Missouri was amazing! Very pretty area.
We had a lovely one-night stay here in the middle of August. It was very hot and we used our AC in the RV during the day. Little shade, lots of sun, and beautiful Badlands vistas in all directions. Sites are fairly close together, so not much privacy. Close to many hiking trails and vistas and the Visitors Center. Loved the scenery, this is a not to miss destination.
This campground is beautiful. We had a lovely two weeks here in mid-July. The sites are wooded and spaced far apart. The lake is within walking distance of all sites. No electric or water hook-ups. Several sites are same-day reservations only, but we had no trouble reserving one, just had to arrive first thing in the morning…Custer is a 7-minute drive away with plenty of coffee shops, restaurants, and shopping. Highly recommend a stay here.
Stayed here as no other campgrounds were available due to Labor Day weekend. Classic “parking lot” campground. Trailers lined up close together around a large field. Noisy. Valley is beautiful. We appreciated the electric and water hook up but overall this kind of camping is not our style.
Gorgeous sites. Upper Loop sites are spaced further apart. Wooded. AT goes right through the campground. Lovely late summer camping experience. Can’t say enough good things about Gifford Woods.
