There are only 3 secluded camping spots on each side of Apple Canyon rd. Dirt roads with certain spots with big dips. I should have took the rd where it says campsite #1 because it also leads to #2 and of is much smoother.
No hook ups or water but a fire pit, bench and porta potty near site #1
This is the seclusion I've been seeking for being a beginner dry camp RV'r. Not to far from the road or lake Hemet store. And you can fill up your water next door at Hurkey Creek campground with an $8 entrance fee
Temps in high 90's this week in July. Lots of June bugs and ants. Not much other wildlife.
After the steep beginning, you feel a sense of being father in the wilderness then you really are. Tons of Hawks hunting all over the top of the hill. Mosquitos were aggressive biting though clothing because I forgot big spray. They have an outhouse at the campground and a wood table with the best view of the sun setting into the ocean. The longer way up the hill had giant sunflowers along the bottom
In the back of a small town 2 miles behind a stater brother's. Most sites are near level on gravel and close together. Laundry uses quarters or a third party app to pay. Geese send birds roam around sites. Menifee is central to the southern California mountains of north south and east in addition to the beaches 1-2hrs west.
Staying at site #421 which I think is the best one here because none parked to the immediate sides and has a big hill on the side for exercise and adds privacy. Some sites looked uneven but this one was surprisingly even. Bench and charcoal grill for each site. Seasonal market and such open may 1st. Only WiFi in certain sections of the park Some sites seen seemed like they will only fit a smaller size RV Laundry takes quarters. Change machine inside the lodge. $2 a load. Very peaceful and quiet. Bath and laundry rooms always clean. Comfy Lodge area with two rooms with couches, fire place, tv and games.
I recommend coming in and out from Anza passing by lake Hemet, if your towing towards your max capacity. Gradual straight climb through 75% of the way. Takes about 20-30minutes longer then the other ways but work the saving the strain on your truck and drive.
I've lived in the area since 94. This place has greatly improved since. Water level is way higher, water is cleaner, and clean campground and bathrooms. No more brigades of Donkey Kong sized racoons just a few squads here n there. The RV campsite was probably 80% full on a Friday night. It's closer to your water but too crowded and noisy for our baby so we went over to the tent camping side. For $25 during off-season and 30 during the summer isn't bad. If you don't need hook ups then you can park a 26ft trailer in the campsites without unhooking if needed and not stick out onto the rd. Angled for easy backing in our out of for those still getting the hang of reversing a trailer. Bathrooms and hiking trails a short walk away from campsite 69. Fire pits, wooden benches and parking for several cars per campsite. Large areas around each site for kids or dogs to play in Camp fee's includes park entry for one car, and use of the dump station. Checkout is at noon
